    Do my numbers make sense?

Thing is, most people here have 20-30% returns as target because the big fund managers average about that. As a small fry you have way more edge to exploit so you can asume returns north of 300% which are in turn capped capped at a certain size due to liquidity constraints. When it comes to...

    Do my numbers make sense?

@Adim your results look fine, however I'd do a forward test with small size asap to compare live with backtest. For trading small accounts a sharpe above 10 is perfectly valid, desired and to be expected, also tripple digit annualized returns.

Sometimes I wonder why I even day trade...

And that my friend is the misconception everybody has on their mind. Trading is not a craft that - once learned - will always stay the same. So you definitely won't make easy peasy money once you get good at it. Quite the contrary. You find something, you make money with it for 6m or a year...

Sometimes I wonder why I even day trade...

Guys, there is investing and there is trading. Trading: Exploit an inefficiency in the market that can be quantified and scale that up until liquidity constraint kicks in. Doesn't matter if it's on a sub second timeframe or over 3 months. Investing: Buy something that beats inflation in the...

Is 50,000$ Enough to set up a trading account to earn a full time living?

well...you can calculate that for yourself. if you need 5k/m in expenses then you need to make 20k from trading. half goes to the IRS and retirement savings, 5k to grow your account and 5k to pay the bills. If you make 20% a year you need to have 1m$ to start with

Taking 10 minutes to regroup- fat finger trade

get a corded gaming mouse with 2 buttons only, a mouse mat and a corded mechanical keyboard. All In price probably less than 300$ This will help to keep your sanity and prevents stupid losses by misclicks, breadcrumps in between keys, empty batteries and the likes. Well worth the cash

    Need Help Need Perspective!

You'll need exceptional trading skills to make a living from trading that small, really. Your monthly target should be 20k$+ in profits, otherwise the risk is not worth taking. Half of it is probably taxes, the other half goes to expenses and the rest should stay on account. Imagine that...

    Need Help Need Perspective!

well in this case we're talking apples and oranges here. If you trade just 10 lots to fight boredom or prevent dementia then your results don't affect your life, because well...if you lose or don't feel like it, you just sit out. But if you do this for a living, bad results or the loss of...

    Need Help Need Perspective!

Do that for 250 days, every single day. Do that when the market has a 4pt range and do it when it has a 5% crash. Do it when you are behind for the month and need the money and when life get's out of whack and you have stress on another front. Then we talk. As I said, trade low maintenance...

    Need Help Need Perspective!

Your 1st mistake. One of the most competitive markets out there. 2nd: If you're tired after 3 days trading fulltime, this is definitely not the right job for you. 12h workdays are normal including premarket prep and aftermarket review as a daytrader. 3rd: I would highly suggest you...

    Looking for Advice

Thing is, I'm working in the industry for about 20y now, but never had the chance to trade on a desk. Everything I do is basically retail stuff that has been scaled up to a point where I can compete with most smaller prop shops. So I know exactly where you guys are stuck right now because I...

    Looking for Advice

At this stage I would recommend "Mastering the Grain Markets" by Elaine Kub. You cannot get more practical than this. However, this is not a recommendation to trade that way, you asked how the big boys trade and this is ONE example of that. Cash flow replication means that you look at one...
