    Poll: Is the top in?

A requirement of daytrading is neutral mindset. Outside the day ahead I don't give a horsesh*t whether the weekly, monthly or long-term trend is up or down. Is it the top? Is it the bottom? All this trending mindf**k takes the trader away from the cornucopia each day offers in index futures...

You daytrade, What is your days goal?

Assuming daytrading, the goal is what the day offers. If it is YM you will have the day range and the gyrations each day. Just as an example, you can get a very simple slow smaller range day which say does a dip in the first half hour and then builds slowly with little counter move. Say...

You daytrade, What is your days goal?

Stress or tension .. there is lot that you can do as you come out of childhood into adulthood. You can adopt and train yourself in calm mode. That then becomes your reflex. That is not to say that if you let things go and allow a sloppy and erratic attitude back into your life then stress and...

What are the advantages of tick charts ?

Yes, absolutely, organization of data .. key for a trading model. Incidentally I'm not against minute charts. I have an affection for the work I did on MACD and Stochastics across minute, tick, volume and range charts YM/INDU and the valuable underpinning they can concurrently provide for...

What are the advantages of tick charts ?

Go from tick to volume charts. Volume charts will early warn minute charts if you use an indicator. Volume, tick and range charts all remove noise. I specially designed a stochastic for a volume and range chart on YM & INDU .. which I don't use because it is not needed for a fully completed...

    Fundamental Nonsense

Ho ho ho .. so true. The human condition. Most folks are not deep down black hearted psychopathic liars. Its just expediency .. 'I'm not going to be brought down by any other weak faced areswipe or arsewipes.' :)

Intraday traders please choose: Method A or Method B

I will answer under method A. I assume a predictive trading model of comprehensive features. I assume an index futures market (eg.YM) Ok. Your relevant template knows the days predicted volatility before or at market Open. There is no whipsaw .. you are playing the major predicted move...

    Better to Predict...or React?

Ok, I note what you say. It is interesting. I would definitely say your rules are a basic predictive model. But, no, I wouldn't argue with you on that point because that would just be semantics. I could rename my prediction parameters as 'a set of rules' and since the model operates both...

    Fundamental Nonsense

xtrhvydty, can you explain your nick? Why is it 'extra heavy duty'? Now to evaluate your post in a couple or so words: you've got savvy stuff there about reality. :)

    Better to Predict...or React?

Your rules can't be called reaction can they? Would your set of rules be your standard method of prediction then? :)

    backtesting

I don't often use the word 'backtesting' and when I have, I have probably had a different meaning in mind. Certainly I assemble and check historical prices and related data up to the present time and can find answers to questions that matter. Of course the efficacy of backtesting raw data...

    Better to Predict...or React?

I will give short answers. What is the reason(s) why predictive modeling is not used by many? Independent traders want to get started banging in some 'buys' and 'sells' and then carry on from there trying to get better. Institutional approach: it will it turns out take, say, a couple of...

    Better to Predict...or React?

Yes, you are talking about reacting. Predicting as a serious market approach means having the prediction worked out beforehand. :)

    USA Economy is strong ?

Well, sure, the USA is horsesh*t deep, right up to its neck, in debt ..govt debt, trade deficit debt and aggregate personal/consumer debt. But you know what .. bottom line? Its the biggest economy, its the strongest and its the engine of the world economy. Enjoy. :)

    Better to Predict...or React?

Neither. Accurate prediction modelling as the most successful form of immediate trading is not a favorite among independent traders if indeed used at all. Many or most claim either they don't need to or that reading the market is better. :)

    Better to Predict...or React?

And if you drop the ball or miss it? No, that was simple reaction. Prediction involves a lot more. :)

    Checklist for Success..No.7

Or Let your winners run away before you get on board. Cut your losers just before the market turns. Buy low but stoploss lower. Sell high but stoploss higher. And the trend .. well, hell, that must be someone elses friend. :p

Financial Guru Charged With Tax Fraud

While it is easy to blame practitioners of deceit or alleged deceit, there is nothing greater than the endless tide of self-deceit. Self-deceit? This is nothing more than the huge appetite of the masses who out of their own witless greed feed on the horesh*t handed out to them by various...
