Look at the HDI rank, which measures the quality of life in many countries http://www.webassistant.com/kp/upload/users/47036/hdilist2001.pdf Populations from top 20 countries except U.S. (#6), Ireland (#18) and Italy (#20) are the least religious in the world. Now take a look where...

    Chick Logic 101

Women are like markets - they're always right. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - they always want your money. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - the more you try to understand them, the more confused you'll be. Take them as they are. With or without logic.

    Hedge funds

You're so brilliant! LOL You won't attract many investors with 5% p.a. minus fees - only 2% net for investor. Try to make 15%/year with low drawdowns, then money will flow into your fund.

    '' The Luck Factor ''

I agree. There're two guys, A and B. A is a trader with $30k acct. He makes 50% a year. That's $15k minus taxes, software fee ~$1,200/year. B let's say, he is a Index fund manager, top school graduate. In fact he is doing nothing and earns 200k/year. Fund is down 40% for the last 3 years...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

It wouldn't be good for us to know absolutely everything, to have an answer for every WHY? question. Same goes with predictability. The answers are not that important as the whole process/fun of finding them. There will be always something to discover... We will die, and the kids from the next...

Eifuku Hedge Fund loses 98% capital in 7 days

Yeah, just academic & marketing crap. In general, as long as hedge funds will outperform S&P or bond yields, new money should continue to flow into these funds.

More Homer quotes: ~I agree with you - in theory. In theory, communism works. ~Marge, it takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen. ~(Marge) - Homer please don't make me choose between my man and my God, because you just can't win. (Homer) - There you go again always taking...

daniel_m those quotes from famous people talking about religion are really great. Look what Homer Simpson has to say: http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/quotes/homer.htm :D Frank Zappa: http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/quotes/zappa.htm I disagree with your statement "Budha and...

    TradeStation? Do they trade?

Mixed reviews... surfer didn't report any TS crashes, many other TS customers report them frequently. def: TS to IB automation software can be a great concept, but I would need to open futures acct with TS, park $5,000 and pay $100/mo for platform fee or $200/mo without an brokerage acct...

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

alfonso, misunderstanding I wanted to say, that only math and statistics (from all scientific areas) are really useful in trading. Psychology also. Of course, math is the real science. Quantum physics and chaos theory may explain market's nature, hmm maybe they can give you some ideas which...

As always, excellent point Commisso. Sometimes I feel the only "science" useful in trading is some simple math and statistics + common sense.

I disagree. Are you talking about financial markets only? Maybe all markets will be fully predictable? Perhaps you'll be able to predict your life! That would be so boooring, worst thing can ever happen!

    Science, Meta-physics and Trading

Please explain, 100% predictable? Hmmm... Markets are predictable to some degree now, but fully predictable - that's impossible IMO. I think we shouldn't look at trading as a separate thing (science, physics and trading). Trading is closely connected with psychology, math, statistics...
