    Gunslinger Day Trading System

Sorry, I've don't understand it correctly. "optimizing" is finding the best values for some set of parameters. Not adding new conditions, parameters. Nothing wrong with that... So, what does the term "over-optimized" mean? Does it mean that: set of parameters have the best values, which...

    Interests on futures accounts

On some internet site I saw an explanation of "Interests Earned" field in Tradestation report. http://www.clayburg.com/Strategy%20Analysis.htm "Interests earned: the interest rate your money earns when not in the market". With stock accounts it's easy: I buy a stock - I have less money on...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

jaan & ArchAngel: First, we must define some things. 1) "System optimizing" means that we add parameters to our system in order to get better results. The number of trades of optimized system can be higher or lower than the # of trades of the same system before optimization. 2)...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

jaan: I can't imagine how can you build an optimized system with large # of trades ( >500 ) that has 100% profitable trades! It's easy to optimize system in order to have all 5 trades profitable. It's harder to optimize system in order to have all 20 trades profitable. But it's impossible to...

Automatic Order Entry API for IB

Can anybody tell me, is it possible ( if it is, how? ) to write trading conditions ( can I use similar to EL functions like: maxLoss, maxGain, OpenPosProfit, Max/Min price N bar ago, etc. ?) in Excel ( IF-THEN FUNCTIONS ), and if these certain conditions are met, can Excel automatically send...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

That's what I'm trying to say earlier - curve-fitting/optimization is not a significant factor is systems with large number of trades. jaan: <i>it is perfectly possible to over-optimize a system having any number of historical trades. </i> It's possible, but I think it won't improve system's...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

ArchAngel - I know, spread on emini SP is often 0.25. There's often more than 5 contracts on bid/ask. Sometimes more than a 100. I can see this in Livecharts. I ask about big SP contracts spread. Livecharts SP01Z quotes are a total mess. You say that executions are better on Eminis vs Full...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

On the last post I wrote that big SP contracts spread is about 0.5 point. Maybe it's a little bit different - I rely on unreliable Livecharts quotes. Anybody know what's the average spread on these futures? Volume is much smaller than on the Emini... BTW: what are advantages and disadvantages...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

"$70 slippage and commissions are added to each trade". Commissions are $20 per trade. I don't think they've set such a low slippage at $25 per order ( only 0.1 big SP point ). Spread on big SP futures is about 0.5 point. If they can enter any margin they want then of course all % results...

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

The above system initial capital is $5,000. On 1 Jan 1997 SP500 index was about 750 pts. This system can't trade "Big" SP futures ( $250/point ) with 5,000 initial capital. Reason: initial margin on SP futures on 1 Jan 1997 was about $10k ~ $13k. DT-waw

    Gunslinger Day Trading System

Here's what I've found: http://www.nss-t3.com/daytrade/T3gunslinger.htm The S&P500 day trading system "Gunslinger" results. First, there's no info is it tested on SP500 Emini futures or "big" futures. But - two numbers show that system results are based on one Emini contract: "Average...

    Easy language questions

Thank you for your answers. WarEagle - I hope it works like you wrote! Why EL requires syntax "next bar" if it executes stop orders on this bar? I want to test systems on TS2000i, maybe it differs from TS6? I know about the function "Backtesting resolution". In EL Guide I read...

    Easy language questions

thanks mca. I have another three questions. 1) IF Condition1 THEN buy next bar at stop Hey, if my condition becomes true on bar #1, then buy stop order can be executed on the bar #2 (next bar) not on the #1 bar??? 2) Is it possible to "round down" numbers to specified "box-values"...
