The Atlas Shrugged sequence is actually happening

I was using 2+2 as an allegorical model. And don't get me started on math.....I took more than a few PhD level math courses while pursuing my degree, and know a little about math. I also teach a trading course for a PhD program at a large university. I do not ever allow students to cite...

The Atlas Shrugged sequence is actually happening

I do accept that the public accepts that there are degrees of truth, and that's why the public is being led like a herd. If man cannot have an absolute, he is incapable of having a moral compass. The truth is as absolute as the any physical phenomena observable in the universe. The truth is as...

The Atlas Shrugged sequence is actually happening

I've been an Objectivist for the past 35 years, and have found out that it helps my trading. It gives me a proper mind-set for handling risk, There's so much more to Objectivism than the disputed cult factor. Objectivism is a set of ideals, traits, and morays, to be used as a blueprint for...

"The time to buy is when blood is running in the streets."

The men in the canes came in and bought in 1932, just like they did in 1907, 1893, 1873, 1857, 1837, and 1819. They were buying at low prices, and allowing the upward drift of the market make them money. They established their positions from those who capitulated.

"The time to buy is when blood is running in the streets."

The real time to buy is when cranky, bent over old men with canes get out of their chauffeured cars, hobble up to the exchange floor, and buy severely distressed stocks, They then hobble back to their limos, and retire to their comfortable estates. They wait until the next catalytic event, and...

How many ET's blew up today?

a good indicator of blowups is to see how many seats and leasing priviledges are available at the exchanges at a cheap price. That's always a good indicator, in fact, one of the best, Jeff

    1907

The guys who taught me to trade cut their teeth in the wheat pit in the 1920's and 30's. They taught me that many a trading lesson can be learned from a study of history. The banking crisis and credit crunch today pales compared to the one in 1907.

    Anyone had near blowup experience?

Don't keep your wife out of the loop. Hiding big hits can really make things worse. I made that mistake in 1987, hid a hit, and had to play catch up for a couple of months. It wasn't a comfortable experience.

    Work until you die?

When it works for you, it suddenly changes, no longer working for you. Successful trading is never easy. Many losses come when hubris is at a high level.

Help a High School with a Trading Project

How many orders have you filled in a pit? It's not as easy executing orders in the pit as some would think. Little things like outtrades, fast markets, and mistakes all add up.

Why doesnt Radio Shack go bankrupt?

I'm an Amateur Radio Operator and play around with a lot of electronics. I do all my own repairs and those of my friends.
