PPT update: US authorities believe the roaring bull market is just a suckers' rally

This is scary S*** so close to Halloween. The disastrous underpinnings this article uses to back the need for the PPT are very real (dollar collapse). Very little is known about the PPT but I highly doubt it is only major banks that are involved in providing bids. IMO Joe taxpayer has much more...

Need some immediate help busted trade

Doesn't matter if it is a $70 stock, a 500 share market order should be absorbed within a reasonable range for a stock that does this kind of volume. I would pull up a time and sales window and see what trades were printed during that spike. What was on the books when you hit the order. And...

Are either Carlin or Generic or both being bought?

They pulled it pretty quick. NP Don, I understand.

Are either Carlin or Generic or both being bought?

One of the biggest and best prop shops out there is getting bought out and no one on ET gives a rats ass??? Guess that says a lot about these forums, real traders (Generic) obviously don't waste their time here or they would be talking more about their fate. Do you have any idea Don on...

    The Coming Deflation . . .

I agree 100% with the defaltion scenario. The fact that inflation isn't taking off right now with the rise in commoditities tells me there is no more buying power left. Companies cannot pass on the increases and will inevitably start undercutting each other.

Is This 2000 Redux? (In Miniature)

One thing that disturbs me about this economy and market is the fact that people are cheering the lack of inflation and rallying every time there is a possibility rates are done rising. IMO with the prices of commodities (oil in particular) going through the roof, how can anyone possibly explain...

Maximizing chances of getting filled on ECNs

Really depends on the stock here folks. A MSFT, DELL, INTC post the bid on all 3 or whatever you got. For anything trading less than a couple of million a day there is no point to post it on more than one. Here's what you do, post on ARCA (usually has the most liquidity and you can't get...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

As I said in my first post I make between $500-1000 which brings you roughly 15k a month. One bad day doesn't wipe it all out but what is left just isn't worth all the hard work anymore. And yes when I get pinned it is because of 10k lot sizes. Mav thanks for the help. I thought that might...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Since my style hasn't work for a few years I have as of late been breaking my rule of never doubling down on losers. I morphed it into double down once, then if it keeps going against you then hit bids right away. Well sometimes I just knwo it is a bs move and hang on rightfully, but about once...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

No you are definitely right, the IBs trading departments have taken big hits recently because everyone finally figured out the conflict of interest the trading departments have not to mention the outright fraud that did occur. So much of buy-side trading has moved in house. That is why I want to...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Quick trader, I have looked into the inst. sales trader gig. You can definitely make money but it is more sales than trading. There are jobs a plenty out there but I believe a lot of the firms that are lookig for help are doing so because the research they offer isn't so good and they've lost...

OK Formika, point taken, I just know it is time to do something different.

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Hamlet, I have thought long and hard about doing just that but I really think it is time to move on. I was able to hang on when my peers were blowing up because of discipline and patience. I know I have skills to offer a desk and would like to spend some years seeing the other side of the...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Beng, I am finding resistance at the door to even get interviewed. I haven't tried to get a normal job for years but when I did it was usually through an advertisement and then they examined your credentials and brought you in if they like you. I cannot find any trading jobs listed anywhere so I...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Not exactly Mizer but I would trade just about anything. At least we are moving in the right direction here though instead of criticizing my inability to thrive in this market. Thanks to all those who PMed me with useful advice. Got to run now but hopefully will get this going tomorrow...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

No actually I have blamed myself fully but as a result of the market changing. It is a fact that true day trading is done. If I was better capitalized I might be able to do something different. But again, I didn't start this thread to find away to keep banging away at prop, get it?

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

I actually probably should have known better Dr., that is pretty much what ET is about these days. You would think everyone is making millions by the way they act on these boards.

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Cheese, you are right I am probably stuck on my old style. But I didn't start this thread trying to come up with a new style, my prop days are over. I am looking for some advice on how to move on to something bigger and better in my mind, that is what I know. Does anyone have any advice on...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Coolweb, meet and greet is the key it is just hard to get through to Head Traders or anyone in charge of hiring. I'm really just burnt out at trading for myself. It is a young man's game hammering away at the keys day in and out. Going in everyday flat and then trying make something happen...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Redman I ready to go just about anywhere as I love to trade. I know some visual basic but not much else as far as programming. I would like to know more about the quant side as that seems to be where all trading is going, but think it is outside my realm as I would be going against mathletes...
