Bernake blames "resurgent demand" in emerging markets for commodity price increases

I agree with this. An excess supply of money increases prices, as does an increase in the quantity of an item denominated in money. The fundamental issue I have with Bernanke is he only acknowledges the demand side, not the supply side.

Bernake blames "resurgent demand" in emerging markets for commodity price increases

'The true measure of the wealth of an economy is the pool of productive capital.' Politicians seem to think printing money creates value. But until the public wakes up, they'll be right - the value to them is getting re-elected, not fixing the underlying structural mess. Read more...

Bernake blames "resurgent demand" in emerging markets for commodity price increases

As if an increase in demand for food, fuel, and other things that we take for granted in the West were a problem. Mr. Bernanke ought to follow his own advice and administer some belt tightening here at home instead of instructing other nations to do it for him. It's like the overweight patient...

11 Countries At Risk of Becoming The Next Egypt

For the same reason we don't find many successful corporations with workforces greater than 1 million people, governments cannot and should not be expected to reconcile the divergent needs and desires of that many people, let alone 10s of millions. Just got back from a trip to India - the...

    AWS vs Dedicated Server

We haven't had much in the way of reliability problems. The only problem we've had is running CPU-intensive applications on the free tier - primarily because of the RAM limitations (about 650MB). We host a backup on AWS-EBS, but there, again, you're limited to 10GB. Just depends on the size...

    AWS vs Dedicated Server

If you're curious but are concerned about price, I recommend trying the Amazon Free Tier service. Our company uses their micro instance for offsite backup and simple batch processing, and it's more or less free unless we go over their quotas, which is not often. You'll pay more if you need more...

Why do folks only get behind stocks after they have made big runs?

Because they're traders, not investors. Mostly technical strategies, little fundamentals, short time horizon.

    Innovation and Economic Growth

There are many sources of economic growth, but as nutmeg points out, technology is considered by most economists to account for most of that in the long run. This conclusion comes primarily from the work done by MIT's Robert Solow and the application of his Solow Growth Model to empirical data...
