What is a fair sales fee?

I was thinking something similar to that, this would account to about 1-2% based on client's assets. Of course it will depend on the leverage each party has in the negotiating of the fee, for example a new manager may be willing to pay a higher price for his first clients. But I am still...

    hedge fund name

Fortuna Capital sounds great to me, very powerful name I think. Simple, easy to remember, I wouldn't name the fund after some terminology or tie it up to the strategy. Convexity is also cool.

What is a fair sales fee?

Hi guys, I am not sure where to post this question, but here it is: what would be a standard (fair) compensation for someone who has brought a client with X amount of money to a money manager? For example, I have some kind of relationship with a firm and they bring me a client with $100,000 to...

    Can you beat buy&hold?

I am sure most "buy&holders" opened their positions in 1998 and exited in 2002. Then got back in 2007 and are now underwater and whining about high-frequency trading :D

hey HFT scum, yeah, you. Watch this

For those of you that are against HFT - what do they do that is currently illegal ? Or perhaps so unfair that we need legislation to regulate it ?

hey HFT scum, yeah, you. Watch this

Well said! If someone is making money in a legal way - leave them alone. If High Frequency Trading funds are making money - fine, just do your own HFT fund and make money - pretty soon competition is going to take care of it, no need of any special laws. America is going further away from a free...

    Can you beat buy&hold?

The "buy&hold" strategy is actually a fiction. What is important is how you compare to other people. And there are no people that use that strategy - are there really any people that actually bought the S&P500 or just the Dow 30 companies, added at regular intervals and held for 20 years? In...

    Anyone making money?

If you started in 1999 then you have more experience and knowledge than 99% of the traders here. Having a tough year is not a big deal, provided that you have all the fundamentals right - such as discipline, and money management. Statistically you should expect that. You can always sit back...

    I've been robbed

Was it a system break-down or liquidity break-down ? No official position and yet they were quick to bust the trades... That's what's bothering not busts per se.

    I've been robbed

Guys, the problem is not that they busted the trades. There are legitimate reasons to bust trades and every one should know them - then all is fair because the rules were laid in advance. The problem in this case is that we still don't know and the regulators don't know IF these were...

    I've been robbed

May be you are right. May be this was a glitch and they actually acted right and in the interest of the fair market. My initial reaction was to remember that these are the same regulators that banned short selling in 2008. Next time they can ban market orders and stop orders...

    I've been robbed

We don't know that for sure and we certainly didn't know it at the time, may be it did function very well.

    I've been robbed

I found a 1-min chart, but trades below 60% are not shown. It does look like a mistake, too bad for OP...

    I've been robbed

Well, was there a legitimate reason to bust all trades below the 60% level ?

    I've been robbed

Well, if it is a misprint - clearly not :) But as I said - there must be rules before the fact, not after. Because next time Dell gets scared that a competitor is going to offer ultra cheap laptops in the next few months, and Dell wants to offer their merchandise for 60% off - nobody will dare...

    I've been robbed

Really - how about if it went from $16 to $14 then $10... $9... $7.50... $4.50... $1.50... $0.50... $0.20 ?!? You didn't check the time and sales for the stock did you ? Was it a misprint or someone gave the wrong order ?

    I've been robbed

Could someone post a 1-min chart of PWV for May 6th ? If there was legitimate selling in the stock that drove the price to $0.20, then I think the OP made a fair trade and has all the right to be pissed, and the decision to bust trades is nothing short of communism!!! On the other hand, if it...

The thread was inspiring, thanks Jack :) It would have been even more inspiring if you only made 40k instead of 400k and had a losing day :D

Any interesting videos from May 6?

Funny things is - the market turned around EXACTLY at the moment he shouted "CANCEL ALL ORDERS! CANCEL ALL ORDERS! " :D
