What to do if Technical voodoo doesnt work

Personally I wouldn't listen to him cause he lost millions thinking that selling naked options gave him an edge. Pretty dangerous selling puts even in a bull market where there can be volatile corrections.

Making $200-$400 a day (average), realistic goal for a new trader to grow into?

Experience is key. Having experience of losses and the market teaches you what to do and what not to do in certain instances. I mean, you can't really teach experience. It takes time. Some parts you can pass off to people (ie. tell people not to do this, etc), but until you experience things...

    Using Elitetrader for Contrarian Investing.

All I'm going to say is.. if you think shorting a momentum stock in an uptrend during a late stage bull market is a good idea then keep your stops tight.

    GOOG shatters 513...

I want to say a few things that I observe from my perspective. That's not a cup and handle. Cup Handles usually form in middle of charts, not at the top of an extended move. In fact, my experience is cup and handles are pretty rare patterns. If anything it looks like a bounce off a major...

Human Equity Analysts challenged by Quants

being heavily quantified is not the only single correct way to trade, nor is it the holy grail. there are good quant systems and bad quant systems and when the market atmosphere changes, only the good traders/systems will survive. sure LTCM had a mathematically quantifiable edge, but I could...

    Online brokers

Depending on your strategy, I'd second etrade/ameritrade Flat fee is not necessarily a bad thing... and if you qualify for etrade pro or ameritrade apex you get a whole bunch of perks. IB is good too, but you might not need that level of sophistication.

    Dealing with stress.

My trading setups are pretty stressfree, I have a laid back personality so it suits me well. Dialing up the time frame usually works well. The way my trades work I could do something else like watch a movie, etc. while the trades play out.

what's the benefit of prop vs retail?

Well you can get $10 RT these days retail... so if you move size >1000 shares, you are definitely getting a good deal. But it depends if it's direct access or not.

Human Equity Analysts challenged by Quants

while i agree with it all boiling down to an edge, the fact that is commonly overlooked is that discretionary trading has an advantage over mechanical trading in that you can cherry pick trades. if i make an ATS, im supposed to let it do its thing and follow every single. if i trade...

Human Equity Analysts challenged by Quants

I agree, wait until volatility comes back. I love these bull markets, it sucks in everyone and anyone and everybody thinks they can trade. Then the bear market comes and the cycle repeats. There's too many hedge funds these days anyway, and most are subpar. Everyone in college wants to be a...

    Fake Chinese Products

I'm chinese and let me tell you... the amount of bootlegs in China is so great that I doubt most of you could even begin to comprehend the sheer magnitude of it. I'm actually surprised myself, they seem to be able to duplicate virtually anything and create knockoff brands. Nothing is safe...

    I Have Done It Again

You should be able to look back on your trading see what works and what doesn't and stick to what works. The reason that you look for other setups other than your long term setup is because you're bored. Do what you have been doing long-term with most of your money and try day trading with...
