Chuck Norris calls for a revolution.

If you are under the assumption that these examples are on par with what McVeigh did, then we have nothing to talk about. Sound like the Ward Churchill of the extreme right.

Chuck Norris calls for a revolution.

This board is full of seditious elements. Sadly, these elements do more than just post. The conservative extremists in this nation are the biggest threat to this nation, even greater than that of radical Islam. Hate groups in this nation have been strengthening since President Obama's...

Marketsurfer says-- BOTTOM IN, time for longs!

If this is a "classic, historical bottom," then why the tight stop? Historic bottoms need time and room. 100 points is around 10 ES, which is not even 1/2 a daily average true range.

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

Indeed, and it would have been far smarter for Captain Smith to slow down and keep Titanic away from the iceberg. :) Woulda, shoulda, coulda mean nada. Of course if Buffett knew prices would be going lower, he would have stayed in cash and waited for "bargain" prices. On the S&P bet he...

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

They are European-style binaries. They cannot be exercised at any time, only at expiration.

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

Eyeballing it, $4.6 billion in ES would be only around 140,000 contracts. That does sound like a lot--about 1/20 the average daily volume. Still, I have seen tens of thousands trade within a second. He could have hedged. He didn't have to ride the bet down.

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

If it's trading north of 95, perhaps he should do a Lenny Dykstra and just keep doubling down until he's proven right. :-) Seriously, I still do not understand the timing. Not that anyone knew the cash S&P would be trading at the Antichrist level, but if most stocks are in his view...

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

Wonder how much premium he would have pocketed if he had sold them today? I respect Buffett, and he may well be dead by the time the contracts expire, but this has to be regarded as one of the worst bets, if not the worst bet, he has ever placed.

    Is Buffett getting margin calls?

Gee, I guess he didn't hedge those puts by shorting S&P futures. That would have helped stem the losses, at least. At what IV did he sell that bear gamma? At what level will he have to put up more margin? I know what the rules are for the rest of us who trade plain vanilla, but these...

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

If you google Mark Fisher, Logical Trader, and two weeks, you might be able to read some of it on Google books. I recommend getting the book, of course--but I'd google it if you'd rather not wait.

I've made some very good calls here over the years, but this has to be the WORST. Could that smell in the air actually be from this rotting turkey of a prognostication? Bad call, profitable week--as long as I trade what I see, not what I think, I should be OK.

Why did Obama have to trash the beautiful economy and massive surplus Dubya left him?

There is a question being begged here: Where is the evidence that market news affects the market (that "good" news leads to a market rise, and that "bad" news leads to a market fall?)? In my experience, markets often top on "good news" and bottom on "bad".

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

Hey there, I was being a bit facetious--hence, my "drive for show, putt for dough" comment. We daytraders know that the real money in this business is made by grinding out a living day after day, just like golfers know that putting is more important than driving long. Picking a bottom is...

That 820s gap should not be forgotten. What we once called support by June might well be brought back to memory as resistance. Let's just say buy at 648-650 June ES for a longer-term trade, waiting for 820's, and then just daytrade to pay the bills: the trading equivalent of "Drive for show...

Leuthold´s Grizzly Short Fund : don´t buy fund anymore

I would be stunned if the market did not at least returned to unchanged for the year (Dec 31 close). That would be over 900 S&P.

As the Dow keeps dropping, Obama is running out of people to blame.

LOL. I'll believe it when I see it. How many pro athletes, brokers, investors, are REALLY going to be stupid enough to insist on a pay cut so they only make 249,999 so their taxes won't go up? How many TRADERS are going to protest the tax hike by intentionally limiting their profits and...

1018.44 was NDX low back in 2008. A measured move (1286.89-1126.54= 160; 1184-160) puts the bottom at 1024. 1020 sounds 'bout right.
