    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Yes, the market is mean to me today; or - I am not very alert and get careless as sleepiness overtakes me. I stayed with my short bias which didn't exactly do very well. :D

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Well, I knew I wasn't much for trading today. I gave up 12 ticks on 4 trades, getting chopped up. I guess I got to get some sleep, overtrading is very possible if I continued. :) I will put in a short on my demo spot fx on 1.2613 ... The demo deals with losses much better than me.

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I'm at a total loss of what to do right now. The run up earlier and the downturn now has me out of sync. I have taken no trades ... and I guess I might have missed out on some sleep to be able to trade efficiently. I will wait for the US equities market open to see if I can't find something to...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Thomson notes that dealers are seeing very heavy buying of 1.2650 EURUSD calls by a big US investment name, and new barriers are being established there. Protection of those options are capping trading a little. Mixed bids, stops seen around the 1.2540-50 area. Now, let's see if this changes...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Seems like it changed into extension-looking with running stops. The RTH close is creeping up fast too... so there might be some hope still, but my guess is for a choppy end. Will have to look later for a possible big slide or further popcorn behaviour. At least the mid 1.2590's are what I...

Well, the break down of the range was a good trade for those who rode the last wave from the top of the range. I was busy writing on the forum, but I probably wouldn't have gotten short anyway because of the lunch hours... Also the volume increased only when the range broke - with a lot of stops...

    When do you scalp?

I guess this depends on scalping style; I prefer the fast action. I find that this involves much more simplistic moves where one can clearly see when prices are turning with simple stalling and stop-outs being very evident.

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I though I'd explain in detail how I set up a scalp. As I said I have a short bias above 1.26 - but of course look for upward moves. When we were coming to new highs I was looking quite carefully, and actually had a order waiting on 1.2618 ... But when prices went up and they stalled a little...

    When do you scalp?

Whenever the market seems fit to scalp. 24h :)

Another 6 tick short, but now we're pushing for 1.2625 barrier, stops ... After that a downturn would be pleasing. :) Thomson reports London Fixing to boost EURUSD, and US custiodial names adding to this -buying €s. UBS has 1.27 forecast in a months time, according to Bloomberg UK...

The muted reaction on the oil inventory numbers could perhaps indicate good opportunities to the downside over 1.26. :)

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Well, maybe oil numbers can give some input as well today. I trade very nervously today .. two shorts of 5 ticks each. I can't seem to sit very long with the lack of news right now - which I guess could indicate a very thin floor under here. No need to trade just for the heck of it right now...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

The "risk for a strong up move attempt" I mentioned yesterday for the nice market has at least become a reality during the european open today. I wonder how long the corporate players will delay their jumping into the ring ... or are they already here ? Today I guess the US equity open 09:30...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I think that the trailing stop has a dilemma, where I can't get into the trailing stop before at least getting roughly my target price on trades. Now I've got a nice short entry above 1.2520 and I can let it ride a bit longer than the 1.2515-14 it's now. However with my perceived maximum of...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I many times go for moves, extension that I know is just good for 4-10 ticks most. Part of my system is that I get into these "safe trades" for easy profits. Babysitting the position is something I have done before, but staying away from the T&S, orderbook is important .. watching Bloomberg...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I was just testing a position on the first dip into the 1.2450-area and was watching it for around 6 hours ... It grew into 14 ticks profits at max - I had a target of 30 ticks and stop of 16 ticks. Later I gave in to my old scalper, tape-reading, and bailed out on 4 ticks profits on european...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Yes, I don't think I would take too kindly to all that stretching now - a few years after I stopped practicing regularly. I can still do some high kicks etc, but I would probably get some major injury if I tried to do some of the things of the past. Once I had a groin-, combined with knee-...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

No, not really. I was researching capital gains tax a few years ago, and found that combined with cost of living, South Korea was very attractive. It was after I saw an article on OECD countries and taxes and cost of living. Best in europe, when combining these two factors, is Portugal. The...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

It's one of the european ones ... :) I never was very happy about revealing to much of the easy-to-track information on semi-anonymous discussion boards, but anyone who knows me - would immediately know who was writing; it doesn't really matter either for the purposes of this board. I don't...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I have relatives who have lived and worked here - although in the 60's - which doesn't exactly compare to today. I went here for the new year's celebration of 2000. I went back to europe on 1st of january 2000 .... I was working in IT and had all of the Y2K stuff to handle before ... so it was...
