July 2011 = no more US trader clients?

There is a difference between closing US clients' accounts (which sure would raise a few eyebrows on this froum) and not accepting new clients, which may be a temporary compliance issue.

    British debt

Compare this to the number of "work-shy" people: "Almost five million people are stuck on out of work benefits in the UK, with 1.4 million getting hand-outs for nine out of the last ten years."

    British debt

It's because GPs were no longer required to work in the evenings or on week-ends... or visist patients at all for that matter. On a serious note, doctors were paid for reaching targets, not for keeping patients healthy... and the system was made very easy to game. Just give panadol to nearly...

How reliable is the backtesting result?

Profit factor is quite solid. However, I think the number of trades is a bit small for a trustworthy backtests. See if the same system (with exactly the same parametes) works on other instruments. This will give much larger sample size.

Open Question for FOREX Sponsors or Anyone Else

Then you have the answer to the question in the first post of the thread. There are lots of reasons people may prefer to conduct transactions in cash currency and not futures, one is taking currency on a holiday abroad.

Open Question for FOREX Sponsors or Anyone Else

In fact, none of the equity trades are sent to GLOBEX. GLOBEX is a futures exchange. Further, bulk equity transactions are conducted in private by the buyer and the seller (recently often via a variety of "dark pools"). There is an obligation for the buyer to report aquiring a substantial...

Who Creates Billionaires? Stocks or Forex

bearice, it would make the discussion more substantiated if you named a few people who actually made it into the billionair list by trading forex. (Hint: there are a few.) Before you do it, this thread is pure speculation of the kind "with extreme luck and leverage some people could have done that".

Open Question for FOREX Sponsors or Anyone Else

No, like it has never got there with "bulk" equity trades.

Prop firms - why the scum bag image?

Read this thread http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=213858 especially posts by Martinghoul. In brief, with the advancement of "discount" brokerages prop firms are no longer attractive to small traders due to lower commissions alone (as whatever is saved in commissions...

    credit default swaps

gsgs, if you are ready to dedicate $5 mln or so to credit default swap trading, ask any of the major prime brokers like Morgan Stanley and they answer most questions. One of the caveats of trading CDS is like with non-exchange-traded options they are a contract between a "buyer" and a...

Multi Monitors - 5/6 monitor setups - selection help

NVS 450 cards "suck" big time. Lots of peopel hae problems with some monitors not being recognised. It may require a few reboots till NVS 450 sees all 4 monitors etc... If it takes the manufacturer over 2 years to fix the drivers, it's just not a problem most people want to deal with. I'm sure...

Fix unemployment by changing constitution so every kid gets an ipod and a laptop

Agree, it's pure populism targeted at aggressively ignorant people (I don't know and don't wanna know time.) Or worse, pork. The issue of who receives the monetary rewards from sale of iPhones and iPads (which is discussed in the article on slashdot) is irrelevant. Even if the Chinese who...

Pirated movie shown on national TV. Intellectual property is dead.

I assure this is exactly what happens in Belarus with books on a pretty industrial scale... and with movies on DVD too. This is not a human rights issue but a legal techinicality. The library paid for the DVD. Further, they paid extra to get a copy licensed for rental, not just home use. Most...

Seattle-Area Restaurant Refuses To Serve TSA Agents

TSA don't seem to be doing anything useful as it is. If nothing happens it's either because the threat is hugely exagerrated or thanks to undercover police officers infiltrating radical groups. For example, Steven Greenoe smuggled over 60 handguns from North Carolina to the UK in his hand...

Seattle-Area Restaurant Refuses To Serve TSA Agents

Exactly. It's private property and the owner can refuse entry to anyone arbitrarily. There are wide-effect laws prohibiting racial discrimination but any other kind of discrimination is perfectly legal. For example, casino owners refuse entry to people who win too regularly. Or a Polish shop...
