Did TOS Just Rip Me Off?

You offered to sell at any price, so you ripped yourself off. Guess you were in a hurry. TOS has nothing to do it with it, you hit your thumb with a hammer. Learn your tools.

How do You set your Stops? Got favorite ideas?

Like other said, it depends upon the strategy. That being said, factors I consider for a particular strategy's stops are Probability over time Probability over price delta Probability of target versus stop being hit. MAE Those "parameters" are instrument specific, or more precisely tuned for...

I'm new to the site. Who are the "real deal" handles here?

Just like any filter they are just guidelines. A lot of the old timers are sage. Like any filter it depends upon the Universe it is applied. One might say, the need for filters is more for the new people than the older one... :D

I'm new to the site. Who are the "real deal" handles here?

Here is my filter: Like ration over 50%, then These post criterion: Does not talk about their profits. Does not talk about an "edge" and does not want people give to them an "edge". Does not post charts and says XYZ about them. Does not make "calls" (tops-bottoms, etc) about anything. Claims...

    One Single "Tie-Breaker" Metric

It seems like you are assuming that the "back testing" means you are done testing and therefore are ready to go live. There is a ton of additional testing to be done. Back testing probably only represents 15% of the testing needed. Much of the additional testing need to be done live. Do...

How much are you paying in non commission fee's?

I agree and pay the minimum at IB. So about $5 a month, net. One should only pay for what is proven to be needed. One thing that does not get used daily but is needed, is connection redundancy, imo.

"Simple math" is not adequate. (Post for newbies)

Actually all system reduce to And and Not, so yes! But that is like saying people are just water and minerals. Deconstruction-ism looses a lot. And the truth is, you just need to press the right button on your computer at the right time. Nothing else matters to the exchange but what orders...

"Simple math" is not adequate. (Post for newbies)

Another to the ignore list. Please do the same for me. My posts will only frustrate. Just because you are not consistent (your posts), you should not assume everyone else is not. That is an emotional defense mechanism in action. Even if I provided "proof", whatever that means, it would not...

"Simple math" is not adequate. (Post for newbies)

Yep, Simple! Like take a job at Apple in 1997 and don't sell your stock options until 2020. Or MSFT, INTL during the 90s. Investing is a great way to go and should be a part of the portfolio. But this was about short term trading, which is an optional part of a portfolio.

"Simple math" is not adequate. (Post for newbies)

Yes but it should not be relevant. The posts are designed to stand on their own. I know a lot of people like some proof people are knowledgeable. But that is a form of "appeal to authority" argument, which is considered fallacious. I will not engage is such stuff. From the tone of your...

"Simple math" is not adequate. (Post for newbies)

It seems some have a tunnel vision obsession on the notion of win:loss ratio. Some drone on about how it is simple mathematics. 7th grade algebra is their alter. There is reason to consider other math disciplines that can be applied to system development. To Wit: A single trade is not an...

Why do moving averages SUCK so much?

Don't confuse a mathematical representation with your interpretation of it. Both are revisable. This is one of the oldest known distinctions. We are talking BC, 2200+ years. Probably time to learn and apply it, unless you think you are so exceptional the fundamentals don't apply to...

Of the 100+ I have read, this one is in the top 5. It is actually about generalized semantics, but it can help you figure out what model to base your system on by allowing you to differentiate between your biases and reality. It also provides a framework to understand the the relationship...
