    OVTI - Ripping Today

Even better when you provide your own second opinion, isn't it? And yours are useful? You are absolutely correct, but not for the reasons you think, how ironic.

    Anyone been watching TASR?

Update - here is an EOD chart for January 26, ignore the duplicate green candle, it's a bug with QuoteTracker's historical charting.

    Anyone been watching TASR?

I opened a long position on Tuesday of this week (and no I didn't call the short-term bottom before the 10% up move, I actually bought in a rather risky manner after the intraday move up). Current share price is way out of whack with earnings, but I bought in because the stock is starting to...

    Chart watch - TMTA

Closed my TMTA position today pretty much net even with my entry point (not counting commissions). I could regret doing so, but take a look at the channel on my chart, and my guess is that it starts moving downwards again from here.

    Alberta Oil Sands Stk Pks

Most likely they did sensitivity analysis as part of the overall planning towards making a go/no-go call on the project(s). I highly doubt that Suncor/Syncrude speculated 5-7 years ago that oil prices would be at $60 barrel, and I can pretty much guarantee you that they did not not use $60 oil...

    Alberta Oil Sands Stk Pks

Don't forget that the various companies involved in the Canadian oilsands also have real options when evaluating their projects. Right now we have been seeing a string of announcements regarding multi-billion dollar megaprojects, but if oil prices were to drop, I'm sure that many of these...

    Alberta Oil Sands Stk Pks

One possibility for pipelines would be Enbridge, another would be Terasen (the latter is in the process of being acquired by Kinder Morgan). Sorry, can't think of any others right now, you might want to try Google.

    Alberta Oil Sands Stk Pks

Well, couple of companies that come to mind would be Suncor and Western Oil Sands Inc. You can also find a few more company names listed here: http://www.syncrude.ca/who_we_are/01_01.html

    Jesse Livermore

Actually, there was quite a bit in the book about important things to consider as a trader, rather than the book being entirely full of negativity. Have you even read the book?

    Jesse Livermore

Good point. The point of reading the book is trading psychology, not how good/bad he was as a trader.

Would Canada's Elimination of Capital Gains be inspirational to americans

Good point. Eliminating capital gains taxation might remove some of the incentive to hold investments in an RRSP. I doubt that people would cash in their RRSPs as a result of such a change (since they would be taxed on the withdraws), but it might reduce incentive to deposit funds into a tax...

Would Canada's Elimination of Capital Gains be inspirational to americans

You know, I really wonder if they will actually follow through on that type of promise. It would be interesting to see how much money the CRA pulls in specifically from personal capital gains taxation on an annual basis.

    Chart watch - TMTA

Makes sense to me, $1.75 or so would likely be the next point of strong resistance.

    Chart watch - TMTA

TMTA just had a nice breakout today (January 19), will be interesting to watch for confirmation tomorrow. I'm in around $1.40 (yes, I'm breaking my usual rule of posting about a trade when I enter it rather than proclaiming that I entered the trade previous to a move).

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

Fair enough. I haven't seen any stats regarding commercial real estate, but I would generally doubt that it would be all that much different than the housing market.

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

One additional comment on my part. I've started seeing various predictions for the local housing market in 2006, and I always chuckle when I see the quotes from real estate agents and mortgage brokers. The same people that arguably have the most to lose in a housing downturn are consistently...

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

We appear to be on the same side of the argument, but houses have not historically appreciated by 8% per year, they have instead appreciated by slightly more than inflation. I would have to go back and find the relevant quote, but Shiller's book mentioned something along the lines of historical...

The Beginning of Giving Houses Away.

I suggest you read the 2nd Edition of Irrational Exuberance, it has some interesting points regarding the housing market.

    Chart watch - TMTA

I'm actually really wondering about the status of the Culturecom deal. Last I had heard, the potential closing deadline was extended again until the end of January. $15 million is a lot of money for TMTA, even if it is a one-time event (plus ongoing royalties).

    Chart watch - TMTA

Well, my advice regarding this is twofold. First, take a look through TMTA's recent financial statements, the company is expected to post a loss for Q4. The real downside/upside potential will take place when the company provides guidance for Fiscal 2006. Second, I feel that 2006 is all...
