In the IB irc chat room I caught the tail end of a conversation. The IB rep said that IB would be installing an additional connection to globex(or something to that effect). So it was probably a lost connection to globex which was the cause for the downtime.

I agree keep them seperate. Integration makes more sense for equities though. But with so few symbol changes with futures it's hardly required to have the order entry and charting packages integrated. I think the better alternative is to have the IB pick up the cost of the trading pkg based on...

Looks like Barrons listened. IB rated second only to TN in trade execution in latest survey of online brokers. Although they didn't include IB in their "What It Costs, What You Get" section. Not sure why.

Interesting post. searchable transaction histories for buys, sells, cash transactions, etc, by date or specified period, and by symbol would be great.

I'd say stick with a real job until you learn to trade profitably and have a defined methodology in place. Then you can go to prop or retail whatever based on what your successful methodology dictates. If you go straight to prop and blow it then your way behind the 8 ball.

It's the IDA that IB is STILL dealing with apparently. You may want to direct your wrath their way. But perhaps it might be best not to piss anyone off until we see how the next meeting goes. Which apparently is scheduled in the next 2 weeks.
