IQFeed data vs other data providers

Listen-up Guys....Don't give-up YET ! Primary: Excel VBA apps for trading require the utmost care in design....to avoid CPU overload. The Application object alone has almost 50 properties and methods which have a critical impact on the CPU usage in realtime. I've reviewed Excel code from...

    cheapest options contract brokerage

Whoa...with that volume, you can negotiate your rate. I have been with Thinkorswim for 6 months. ROCK-SOLID trading platform....never goes down. Great option analytics (takes time to learn their GUI however). They support complex orders as well. I'd contact Thinkorswim tomorrow and be sure to...

How many times do you restart IB TWS per day?

Guys, GUYS !!! Give this great programmer a BREAK. He is doing everything himself....I know, I know...it's NOT a good idea. I told him about it....he should have a more professional-looking site, better docs, and a marketing manager. Let me re-iterate the benefits of Priority Master: 1)...

    Great windows utility program

It does much more.... 1) it retains the priority settings after reboot....you don't have to reset everything every day. 2) it automatically boosts foreground programs when they are needed..ex: Internet explorer for a quick link 3) it automatically lowers priority of programs when it detects a...

    Great windows utility program

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1373615#post1373615 Just reading the above problems with getting trading apps to be responsive, I must heartily endorse Priority Master at http://www.prioritymaster.com. I allows you to configure windows to boost the priority of charting...

How many times do you restart IB TWS per day?

That's just great....I don't see how other traders using the fast moving DOM interfaces can even exist without Priority Master. It's a tremendous contribution to the windows utility world. re: "...giving my java apps a pretty low priority" Remember: Bill Gates always HATED Java ! I wouldn't...

Wow, that's an excellent suggestion...never thought of that !

How to avoid slippage in breakout and stoploss?

Trade only highly liquid instruments. eRL futures move very fast during breakouts, but I'm never filled more than 1 tick away from my stop. Other e-mini futures like gold.....forget it....you'll be lucky to be filled 4-8 ticks away. I am sure stocks trading on electronic platforms are the same way.

    Tired of lack of confidence

No question about the low VIX and it's dramatic effect on trading strategies....so with the VIX at near all-time lows, and the Russell 2000 near ALL-TIME highs, no wonder the eRL futures trade a bit spastically ! Based on my research and observations: 1) Intraday trend-following strats just...

    Hold Brothers - Kicking Ass

Hold just placed ads in several metro areas of Craigslist looking for remote prop traders. Put your $5k down, install Graybox, and you've got $400k in BP....no questions asked.

Steve - regarding the comment on the Graybox platform problems...do you know anyone there at Hold who can deny or confirm them ? BTW: are you trading retail now or what ?

Browser-based trading platform ? You're asking for trouble IMHO. Ask anyone who's developed web pages....browsers are the most idiocyncratic pieces of software out there. I'm running Win2k: much leaner and faster than Win/XP.

How many times do you restart IB TWS per day?

Make sure Javaw.exe is running at REAL-TIME priority. I have a Java app and that's what I use. Best to get this program to insure it stays that way everytime you restart TWS: http://www.prioritymaster.com This program also effectively LOWERS all other non-essential processes / programs.

Good points all. Amazing that Microsoft never thought to incorporate the functionality of PriorityMaster into Win/XP or even Win/Vista.

Es profit on 1/4 point can it be done? Part II

I agree somewhat....wow, what a physical drain this system would be ! Why not take an algorithmic approach with black or gray box software ? When you are talking profits in TICKS, that means bid/ask movement and size become important. If I were you, I'd look at some bid/ask models like this one...

    Good software for realtime platforms...

Guys - I just wanted to provide a small endorsement of a piece of software I've been testing and trialing for a few weeks now. I'm posting in this forum because the software section seems pretty dead, and this software is geared to data-intensive applications...like index futures trading...

    Strategy Runner

I like Strategy Runner.....and the trial feed via Man Financial is very fast as well. I has some issues with the charting, but otherwise, it's has a great interface with good performance. My only concern is.... will they stay around ? I've been asking around how many traders are using it, and...
