    Best Index Futures for Intraday-Trading?

How about on a PERCENTAGE basis ? Better yet, how about on a percentage of contract dollar change divided by overnight dollar margin required ?....highest number = best one to trade.

    Best Index Futures for Intraday-Trading?

Not the best. Index options (NDX, RUT) get preferred 60-40 tax treatment and your commissions will be 1/3 that of ETF options.

TWS hiccups in fast market. (JAVA ISSUE!!)

Good stuff....it's wonderful to hear Java continues to get faster ! I'm running ThinkorSwim, but they have not given the OK to move-up to 1.6 (at 1.5.11 right now). BTW: Have you tried running both QT and TWS at RealTime priority ? Any reason you are running Windows XP, a non-realtime OS, vs...

Poll: Will Cramer's show get pulled in bear market?

Exactly, and don't forget the perks that come with it....have you seen his wife for instance ? What's funny is that Bolling admitted he was trying to sell that HUGE morning rally on Thursday morning and he finally quit selling S&P Futures around 10:30 am.....only 1/2 hour before it "topped"...

Mark Cook: 29% correction in March 2007

Uh...yeah, so don't expect a new all-time high anytime soon...and if you check some ET posts about 1 month ago, someone remarked about absolutely HUGE short bets in the S&P Futures market. That was the "smart money"....Lehman, G/S, M/S, etc. The bounce will sooth a lot of nerves and keep the...

    IB's TWS Market Scanner

Has anyone used this for selecting stocks based on their pre-defined scan codes ? Any idea if they will ever support user-defined scan codes so that custom scans can be performed ?

Mark Cook: 29% correction in March 2007

This is good thinking and I concur. Big rebound, followed by more downside, but much slower this time....slow and agonizing for the bulls. Perfect strat: Buy calls, sell after bounce, then sell credit spreads on calls....and just keep selling 'em.

Poll: Will Cramer's show get pulled in bear market?

Love that show...but despite Bolling's reputation, his "long GOOG", "long GLD" trades are really getting hammered. No question he was right on crude and gasoline. Interesting to see that these trading "gods" are not that immortal. I often wonder how many of them just got lucky...

IB Excel DDE freeze my computer forever

Good stuff...glad to see it is working. To solve the OLEAUT.DLL problem, do this: Hit: Start, Run Enter: regsrv32 c:\windows\system32\OLEAUT.DLL Note: if your windows directory is named differently, use it instead.

How many times do you restart IB TWS per day?

Any details please ? I'd like to resolve this ASAP. A small change in the set-up/configuration makes a huge difference. Note: I just discovered this program has several software PATENTS behind it.

How many times do you restart IB TWS per day?

I mean WOW, it's apparent you have ZERO patience or tolerance ! (You trade for a living ?.... yikes.... no patience has ruined many a trader !) Just reboot and configure it for AUTOMATIC mode....do NOT use DEFENDER MODE. To configure it properly, you must first turn it off/shut it down...

IB Excel DDE freeze my computer forever

OLEPRO32.DLL is part of the VB6 run-time package. I would reinstall (in Safe Mode) the entire VB6 service pack 6: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887 This will re-register everthing as well. Good luck and be sure to report your result.

TWS hiccups in fast market. (JAVA ISSUE!!)

Not true....I'm running ThinkorSwim's platform and it's solid....and all Java. I would bet that running TWS on a Linux platform would be much better.....Windows/XP is just horrible.....there are too many things (mostly useless) going on....and Java is relegated a low priority (I think Bill Gates...

TWS hiccups in fast market. (JAVA ISSUE!!)

See my posts in the Software section. You need www.prioritymaster.com to boost the javaw.exe program for you to REALTIME and to lower all other apps in priority. Also, best to run with a lean O/S like Win2K. WinXP has just so much overhead....it was never meant to be a realtime operating system.

Odds Czar: Simple Biases in the Futures Markets 2007

Interesting crash observations Art...thanks for those. I see that our friend the Russell 2000 is not showing great bias for tomorrow.....today's action was somewhat choppy, and totally back-and-forth, but net-net, it was weak as heck.

    Great windows utility program

Again, the author has no experience with trading software....I discussed that with him. He made a huge mistake in making a "category" named as "CD Burner" IMHO. There are many other programs that fit into that category....including realtime charting/quotes as well as process control software...

    Great windows utility program

No it won't.....Despite the 50 million lines of code, Windows XP is pretty "stupid". It doesn't even know you are running a realtime piece of software for instance. It rarely, if EVER, does this....especially if you have a modern CPU. It's an emergency-only situation. But they did not design...
