    "Classic" IB tech support

That wasn't nice...you must be stressed and thus should quit trading for a while. Many of the other posts concur with me: "There's no use to deny IB's service sucks."

You bet....I was going to mention this, but you beat me to the punch.

    "Classic" IB tech support

IB is introducing a new tool called their Market Scanner in the next release. I've made 2 inquiries about it: The first was: "Can the scan codes be programmed by the user to perform a special scan ?" Answer came back a terse "No". Second was: "Well, will YOU program a special scan for me then...

Is emini Russell 200 best mini to trade???

Not really...Even stop orders during fast moves rarely lose more than a tick or two. The killer with this guy is the bullshit fake reversal moves and shake-outs. Look at the opening 15 minutes....heck there are multiple $300 per minute per contract moves. No question, this is a great contract...

Which Front End is best for Automation

Tradestation is your best bet....pre-built strategies, and even if you had to create your own, you could copy an existing one and modify fairly easily. The Easy Language is very high level even compared to Excel VBA. BTW: What is QT ? (BT=Button Trader, NT=Ninja Trader, QT=??)

    Think Or Swim

You misunderstood. There is no automated trading with ThinkorSwim retail edition. It's a Java app, but it provides a DDE DATA stream to the world of windows applications (like Excel). However, UNLIKE Interactive Brokers, there is NO DDE support for placing orders, receiving confirmations and all...

TOS supports DDE, so if you want something special programmed, you can do it in Excel via DDE Linkage.

Odds Czar: Simple Biases in the Futures Markets 2007

March 2007 edition of SFO magazine had some interesting articles...one was election year and pre-election tendencies. Fascinating. See http://www.electionomics.com for more info. Bottomline conclusion: pre-election long positions are winners...with one major exception: the great depression...

TWS Java Bloat or do you have any other ideas?

The Xms and Xmx arguments / property settings will most likely be eventually deprecated....see the post (attached) on the new memory control parameters.

Which Front End is best for Automation

For Prop, you've got a couple of possibities.....Tradestation is one of them. I know of several prop firms who built "bridges" from Tradestation to their own proprietary order entry programs. Another one to consider is Strategy Runner. I've trialed it and it has a decent front end as well as...

    TradeStation 8.2 Build 3863 Issues

EXACTLY. On top of absolutely DUMB policies like that I can't believe they have become so desparate to save a few bucks and provide such lousy tech and customer support. Heck, I was on the phone for almost 20 minutes yesterday, just getting thru to make sure my forum account worked in the new Wiki.

TWS Java Bloat or do you have any other ideas?

Starting with Java V 1.5, new memory usage parameters have been made available. However, implementing them is a bit tricky: 1) create a file in the c:\windows\Sun\Deployment subdirectory. A file named deployment.config must be present. (Note: do not use Notepad, use a good editor like Visual...

TWS Java Bloat or do you have any other ideas?

I agree with #1 above....I was just told a fairly significant bug in the 1.6 version of Java JRE was discovered....thread objects were not being garbage-collected. This could be significant if TWS is constantly creating and destroying threads. Despite V 6 having the advantage of being faster, I...

    Excel 2007

MicroSloth screwed-up (again)....they had a great opportunity to improve Excel...and besides the row/column limit expansion, the only big improvement is the document security in Excel 2007 which is unhackable (so far). It employs a Vista-like encryption which is said to be unbeatable. HOWEVER...

IB Excel DDE freeze my computer forever

regsrv32.exe resides in your "c:\windows\system32" directory. IE7 is still a "bad boy"...bad move when you installed it...now you are "stuck". Your instability is indicative of a hard drive problem.... best to reboot into SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT goto the WINDOWS directory at the...

TWS hiccups in fast market. (JAVA ISSUE!!)

You won't hear anyone mention it because their vested interest is to get you to trade with their platform as unimpeded as possible...that means "using what you got". Win2K is about half the lines of source code as Win/XP....and there are fewer services and processes running to support it. Vista...
