    Gold and Currency relation

This isn't true at all. Correlations change all the time and of course it's all relative to the time frame you're looking at. Gold has had many periods in the last 15 years where it was well correlated with the Euro and Yen. It seems to most commonly be inversely correlated with the dollar...

Living Frugally to Retire By 40? Mental Illness or Smart ?

Not everyone is a "creator" or "builder". The world takes all kinds. Why do you care so much? In the list of destructive human behavior, people living frugally is like 10,000th on my list.

Increased My Account Over 1,000%, Want To Get Hired

No, I'm just a retail guy with a full time business that trades off daily charts on the side, but I am profitable and my performance has been steadily getting better, to the point where I may look at Fundseeder or something similar down the road if my performance stays like it has been.

Increased My Account Over 1,000%, Want To Get Hired

If you can trade trends profitably, then that's great for you. Just keep doing what you've been doing. As someone else posted, apply for some trading jobs and see if you have enough experience. While you're doing that, you'll be adding more and more experience as time goes on. You can also...

Increased My Account Over 1,000%, Want To Get Hired

So you have a short track record based on a very smooth bull dollar trend. That's not going to get you OPM. Show that you can do it for at least a few more years through trending and non-trending markets and I'm sure you would have a better shot.

Living Frugally to Retire By 40? Mental Illness or Smart ?

For some people (not me by any means), living frugally does provide them with happiness. Living above or close to their means, may bring enormous stress into the lives of people that gravitate to the intense retirement savings lifestyle. To each their own. I shoot for somewhere in the middle...

Living Frugally to Retire By 40? Mental Illness or Smart ?

You have to spend less than you make, and try to save some money, but it's a lot easier said than done. And it's MUCH EASIER if you don't have CHILDREN. It seems like a lot of these early retirement guys that go super hard core, typically have a dual income situation with their spouse, and no...

Wohl of Wall Street: high school hedge fund manager

Good for him. Seems to be very smart and motivated at 17. If you can convince people to part with their money (in any number of ways), you can become as financially successful as your dreams and work ethic will take you.

They are a truly bizarre company. Not sure I can trust a company like this to keep a significant chunk of money with.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

Please continue to pass on what you hear. I can't imagine why IB wouldn't clarify what is going on and contact IRA account holders, or at the very least update their customer service reps so they know what is going on. It's a little scary frankly, having money tied up at a broker who is this...

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

What a joke from an account services standpoint. By now you would think IB would at least have its act together enough to communicate something..... (anything) to their IRA customers.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

As it stands now, I'm going to research alternatives, but keep my account at IB open for another week or so until the dust settles. If they haven't made any sort of announcement by the end of the week, then I will probably pull the trigger and open a new account at TOS.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

Yes there are many brokers that offer IRA trading via that model. You have to pay the trust holder a fee but that's not the end of the world. I don't see anything to indicate there have been any legislative changes. I think if there were some sort of ruling or proposed law change there would be...

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

I don't trade options so I didn't look into that a year ago when I investigated TOS. One thing about TOS that is important to note is that they have a $25,000 min account balance required to trade Futures in an IRA account.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

Thinkorswim allows futures trading in IRA accounts. Many other brokers allow it through a trust account (such as Millennium Trust) but those are futures only. In that scenario, you act as your own custodian and can invest in virtually anything including RE, private equity, etc. I will probably...

They explained to me that if you have open orders, you can hold through expiry and they will not liquidate or force you to liquidate open positions, but no further positions can be put on.
