how do i go from trading 50 shares of SPY to ES futures?

A slower position size increase schedule is preferable to blowing up. Always think defense first. If you play defensively, time starts to work in your favor.

    When to switch to IB

If IB will let you open an account with $5k I would definitely switch for active stock trading.

exploring etf trading first time, nooblet question

As outflows from the ETF occur, they would be selling shares of the component stocks. The NAV shouldn't really be affected too much by outflows.

    Corporate account – personal liability?

I have no idea about trading accounts, but it is very common for personal guarantees (PG) to be required on business accounts for such things like bank accounts, creditors, vendor services, etc. If you have enough business credit history and/or are of large enough size, those requirements are...

Vanguard gives day traders the stiff-arm by dropping inverse, leveraged strategy funds

I don't think many, IF ANY day traders trade at Vanguard. They cater more to long hold investors. I have an account with Vanguard and use it for only long term mutual fund investing.

Seems like a lot of panic over such a relatively small decline

Yes, I'm seeing that with a couple of early 30's types. Big time panic.

Doug Kass wants to tax retail traders out of existence?

The same thing happens every time the stock market doesn't go straight up. Where were the people blaming high frequency traders in 2017?

    Fed raises rates

Rates were what, 0.25% for 8 straight year? Now apparently we can't raise them fast enough? It seems like the Fed has two speeds which seems bizarre.

How can Altria stock go up 71000% since 1981 when U.S cigarette consumption dropped 44%?

Without looking, I would assume they've bought up a lot of competitors. They have probably branched out into the vaping biz too to help offset some of the smoking decline.

POTUS on ballooning debt "I won't be here" when it blows up

I never bashed Obama for deficits. You SIMPLY CANNOT BE ELECTED IN THE UNITED STATES by being a deficit hawk. Neither party will be fiscally responsible as the past 50 years has proven. The question then comes down to regulation, and deciding how you want the politicians to redistribute...

POTUS on ballooning debt "I won't be here" when it blows up

Trump is different than a Trump company (RE development) that doesn't work out. There are many reasons RE developments fail. It's part of business. It's like taking a loss in trading, or losing games in sports. The Golden State Warriors didn't go undefeated last year. They lose...

POTUS on ballooning debt "I won't be here" when it blows up

But they never do. They increase spending, and keep increasing taxes until they drive growth out. Look at Europe and South America as an example. That model doesn't work. Trumpenomics is the best we got.

POTUS on ballooning debt "I won't be here" when it blows up

LOL, fiscal non-responsibility is not a new issue in DC. That pretty much ended 50 years ago. Also, only a small fraction of his RE deals and companies ended up not working out. Anyone that plays the game is going to have some losses. It's part of investing and business. And the people...
