Has anyone out there ever obtained quote data from an exchange and have it filtered into their own quote program? I'm thinking about writing a program (read:hiring someone to write) which would analyse price data, but not sure whether an api for an existing quote provider would do the trick, so...

thanks everyone, I'm liscensed, a friend of mine was looking to take the 7 and CFA in order to build the resume to jump from life at Wells Fargo to a buy side institution. I wasn't sure on the 7 (and I wished her the best of luck on the CFA, that's a doozy)

Does anyone know if a firm needs to sponser you to take the 7 or whether one can take it by themselves with no firm affiliation. Trying to find the info on the NASD website but strking out. Thanks for any info!

There are quite a few shops in/around downtown SF (Echo/Bright/Assent/Redwood/Greetnree, etc..) Sure you could call any of the home offices and they would give you all the details. Office space is pretty cheap these days, but still think it take a few traders to make that option cost effective.

In complete agreement. Haven't had a chance to run all the numbers, usually wait till the slowtime for that, but the number of fills did seem to be off the wall considering the near flat open.

Preach it brother, I couldn't agree more. I can only think they fear the ECN's, and that they believe this is a competitive step to keep any volume they have now. Thing is, I gotta imagine a good % of the institutional vol these days is done off the floor with increasingly sophisticated ATS's...
