What is your win/rate and profit factor?

A profit factor of 2-4 is really, really good, but it begs the question, how many trades are in your sample size?

Has anybody ever studied 1-tick tick charts with volume?

You can't see the ECN or middles, but I wonder how people think this compares to the time and sales and if there are any patterns?

For Republicans, Just Doing the Math is Frightening

I think if the GOP drops social issues they would appeal more to academics and younger voters who like the idea of economic freedom.

Cities for starting a prop firm/hedge fund?

If you considered Austin, consider Houston, especially if your firm invests or would like to invest in energy. I'm sure you can steal some smart physicists from the space program and energy companies if you can make it worth their while. Northern Virginia is also good for finding PhD's who went...

Cities for starting a prop firm/hedge fund?

Move to the Caymans. Avoid tax. I know Florida, Texas, Nevada, and Alaska have no income tax and I think Alaska pays its citizens. If you go to Fairbanks you'll be surrounded by oil and gold. That could have its advantages. Just remember to pack a sweater or 2 for the winter.

    Candlestick Recognition Software

I've used Patternz, but it doesn't work with intra-day setups. It doesn't work on Windows 7 so you need Virtual PC to run it in XP. I think it's pretty good and it's free.

Hedge funds famous for technical trading?

I was talking to the guy who made this site over the week: http://www.thepatternsite.com/patternz.html He's coded up some of the chart patterns. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's quantified. Unfortunately he had no interest in giving me his algorithms.

Hedge funds famous for technical trading?

It could be quantified, but it would take a long time to code chart patterns.

Hedge funds famous for technical trading?

The idea is that it must break the breakout, once it breaks the breakout level the pattern is confirmed and there is a pre-defined stop loss and profit target. For example, in a double top, the low of the valley between the 2 tops would be the breakout level and the profit target/stop loss could...

Hedge funds famous for technical trading?

So are double tops, double bottoms, rectangles, triangles, and wedges no longer profitable? According to my TA Book from 2011 they are very profitable. Many types are said to have over a 2-1 Profit Factor.

Hedge funds famous for technical trading?

Is it the size of the position they need to take on that makes TA worthless? I thought hedge funds dominated the swing trading business. I don't know if most of those guys trade the news.

Does anybody have a list of hedge funds that are famous for technical trading? It seems that most of these hedge funds are fundamental by looking at their websites.

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Question for P&F enthusiasts? There have been studies showing buying after a breakout of a double top and selling after a breakout of a double bottom. Don't gaps make these results very misleading? Don't they show the net result of the overnight session, but ignore what happened in terms of...

Does anybody know where I can find Dr. Davis' point and figure book from 1969?

Profit and Probability: Technical Analysis of the Price Fluctuations of Common Stocks By the Point and Figure Method It's unavailable on Amazon. I'd settle for a PDF. If not does anybody know where I can find the exact system so I can back-test it myself? I know that he uses 3 box reversals...
