Anyone else short 30yr bond? Trading all time highs 5/30/12

It's becoming fashionable to ridicule early top pickers and throw out 1% targets much like the entire CNBC fast money crew said $200 oil was a lock in 2008 about a week before it topped. Wish I had the video. Food for thought: I heard multiple times this weekend that bonds are being bought...

THE END GAME 2012/13 - Ex Goldman Star - Trading Will Be Banned

Yeah as soon as I read "ban short futures" I dismissed this guy as a lunatic, although apparently he has some cred on the street. Whatever the case it's stupid to obsess over armageddon bets that will never get paid if they come to fruition. If we get to the point where the NY Fed is burning...

    Interactive Brokers TWS Bug Thread

No price freezes but I'm getting delayed acknowledgements and fills back from any futures market, GLOBEX, ICE, etc... as of this morning - was working perfectly yesterday (using 926). Has to be an IB issue because it's not specific to an exchange. The lag is somewhere around 5 seconds give or...

NASDAQ's disgraceful act involving FB IPO

Did anyone route direct NSDQ and successfully participate as a *seller* in the FB opening cross? I had a sell order in at 41.95 timestamped 15 minutes before the opening, nothing done and can't get a straight answer.

facebook ipo - opinions - play by play - keep it brief

Ssaya - I had a 41.95 sell limit in before the opening cross, haven't gotten anything back yet. This is ridiculous.

facebook ipo - opinions - play by play - keep it brief

Thanks, I see the status message now on Nasdaqtrader, I guess the issue is with the opening cross. Speaking of, what was the official print, $42?

Still no reports, has anyone gotten a single report from NSDQ yet?

Same, routed to NSDQ What happens when you try to cancel/replace a presumably filled order?

IB: limit orders for commodity spreads?

Thanks Kostia - the fixed income and 1:1 energy cracks are working great! Look forward to brent/wti when you get it done. Regarding RB/HO it definitely trades natively on GLOBEX (front month has done about 2100 in volume today), I've executed it many times through two other FCM's and...

    New ICE grains in may

No way volume moves to ICE if the CME goes through with expanding trading hours. You're just going to have some shit markets from guys autospreading the CME books. WTI is a bad analogy since it exists to facilitate Brent/WT spread trades, not as a pure side-by-side alternative to NYMEX.

IB: limit orders for commodity spreads?

Kostia - Great news! Many thanks to whoever made this happen, I personally think the lack of native intercommodity spreads was the only thing holding IB back from being a top-tier futures broker. PS - Please add COIL/WTI (native to ICE/IPE) probably one of the most heavily traded energy...

    IB TWS Volume Issue

This is not just a volume issue, starting last week I've also noticed high/low data lagging by up to 30 seconds in TWS (non-API). i.e. crude is still displaying a 104 high while it's trading 104.10 bid, eventually it catches up but this always used to be realtime.

IB: limit orders for commodity spreads?

Tradator - Looks like they're starting to roll out the native 1:1 energy cracks in TWS 925, long time coming! Hopefully Brent/WTI and fixed income are not too far behind. Depth was available on the calendars when I first opened my account three years ago, then disappeared.

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

I'm pretty certain that's no longer the case since IB enabled trading of T-Bills on the secondary market. The catch with IB is - unlike traditional FCM's which let you use the T-Bill itself as commodities collateral, IB forces you to borrow against the T-Bills in the securities account...

    help, about trading fine

Yeah, this, I'd fight it like hell. I can understand some egregious 100:1 ratio or some guy making idiotic markets 16 ticks away via API, but a two lot trader who did a dozen cancel replaces? And out of the 20,000+ messages generated by IB your small account is singled out for the entire...

    help, about trading fine

trader198 - For the benefit of others in this thread can you please share the message IB sent you regarding the $2,000 fine? Also how many separate days were you changing orders in ZB? You would have to violate the rule on three separate instances within 30 days to incur the fine.

    help, about trading fine

(CMEGroup) Please Note: The two notices are provided to the Class A firm regardless of which client(s) caused the product benchmark exception. Class A firm clients are not given individual notices because messaging activity is measured at the Class A firm level, not the client level.

    help, about trading fine

This is true, but it's also unfair to penalize individual traders with the entire $2,000 fine when it is levied based on collective action at a FCM. Say on a given day 3000 different clients of IB generate 9 ZB messages each, no fills, each one individually is compliant with 10:1 but the firm...
