    Increasing risk after a loss

<i>"seems to me you are only considering 1 sequence of trades here. if you do a monte-carlo analysis of many sequences of trades, then the drag is not there. the compunding effect of consecutive winners negates the drag."</i> <b>M4</b> is dead-on correct... I've run enough Monte Carlo...

    TradeStation questions ...

<b>djx</b>, I used Qcharts for several years during my option trading period. Once switched to FX and futures, TS chart service has been my primary software (eSignal backup). I've never used TS on the broker side, zero experience there. A little about TS charts... Excellent for scrolling...

CNBC: If I hear the word "Dow" one more time....

Easy cure for ya, <b>Reardon</b>... turn CNBC off, and never flip back to that wasteland channel again. Your bottom line will not change one penny for the worse, that's for sure :>)

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

<i>This is because anyone who intimately understands their winning and losing trades will KNOW whether to scale out or not.</i> Very well explained... that is an excellent example of correct personal trade management. Entry, exit and stops are synonymous, and neither more or less important...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

On the days when ES and ER go nowhere at all... 6.75 hours at "work" here in the chair is much more draining than any brute-force physical labor I've ever done. Grew up around dairy & grain farms, had my own trucking business when I was young(er). The longest day of physical labor then is not...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

As someone who absolutely hates sitting down indoors for any reason, the choice to day trade was not one of personal preference for me. I've done the swing trade and position trade thing... in commodities, FX and index options. The big benefit to day trading for me is structured schedule. No...

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

<i>"Agree that there are numerous more opportunities to make money day trading. Most of these opportunities are missed however by the newbie and <b>most "experienced" traders."</b></i> Then by all means, stick with what you are doing :D

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

<i>"There are reasons all the smartest Big Players... Are all building algorithmic scalping Bots as fast as they can. Buy and Hold is sub-optimal in today's decimal, near-zero transaction cost markets." * "Have you ever traded 10 positions at the same time, 3 minutes after the open...

    Increasing risk after a loss

<i>"Emotion has nothing to do with it. Your P/L is just an objective figure. If you do not get slightly more agressive after a loss, you will take longer and longer to get back to your highwatermark after each loss."</i> If you have a solid, robust method with smooth distribution of wins...

IBM will put the dow over the top tomorrow...

<b>HG</b>, I think Houston was consulting with Dave Wannestadt on that inexplicable draft pick. I've watched the draft every year for decades, and cannot recall a bigger blunder than that one. My sincere condolences, from one who survived thru the geriatric Shula and Wannestadt years :(

IBM will put the dow over the top tomorrow...

Great suggestion, <b>HolyGrail</b>... beats watching my Dolphins auger straight into the ground after forking out $250 for NFL Ticket. World Series, please save me from the agony of De(phins)feat!

IBM will put the dow over the top tomorrow...

I am bored to death tonight... I think that's why all of us are in this very thread to begin with, would you agree? :p And, I hope longs get exactly what they hope for tomorrow. If that includes you, I wish the best and nothing less. As for me, whichever way the tape flows, potential profit...

IBM will put the dow over the top tomorrow...

<b>"Tomorrow will be a great day if you are currently long!!!"</b> The way that reads on its face, a trader holding open longs will have a great day. How is that possible? The only possible scenario I see is if the market goes up. Let's explore the other possibilites: #1: Market goes...

IBM will put the dow over the top tomorrow...

<i>"Tomorrow will be a great day if you are currently long!!!"</i> Hee hee hee... we'll see Market bias is the death of all fledgling traders. Lose the urge to forecast & predict, you'll find that making money at this game becomes a WHOLE lot easier then

    Other Trading Websites . .

<i>"2+2 maintains a very respectable intellectual level... Primarily because the mods do not allows "play money" players to take over... and idiots are put in their place without delay."</i> Does that mean <b>2+2</b> newbies are free to ask honest questions while veteran traders there can...

    S/R Emini Journal

<b>tq = porgie</b>... when the heck you gonna run my money for me? I'd love to just stick it all on your systems, ride those 90% wins and ratchet up the profits while I hunt & fish myself to death. C'mon <b>uncle porg</b>... can you hook me up like that, or what?

    S/R Emini Journal

<i>"I guess it confuses me because I've never seen the market this over-extended (keep in mind I've been doing this only for a little over a year)"</i> I've been trading nearly every session since late 1999, and have seen just about everything imaginable in that time. One of the more...

    Scalping

<i>By the way, if you are Joe Blow trading retail out of your house in your bathrobe, scalping is not the trading style you want to use. You're going to need a professional commision structure which will require buying or leasing a seat on the exchange....you will want a top notch connection...

    E-mini S&P MidCap 400 futures

NQ is the trendiest emini contract... with good liquidity. I've traded the MD(ME) before, it is just too illiquid for any amount of size at all. Too bad, trades $100 per point and is a great compromise between ER and ES for price behavior. Pump in some open interest and volume, it'd be good...
