    An Overview of Bitcoin

"traderjo, post: - No real backing - backed and secured by the highest computing power in the world - Your choice of coin may become less popular - Chances of the so called exchange going down overnight as compared to a major country currency going down overnight to pittance - What effect did...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

Apologies, I was going to edit my post but I was too late as you have replied already. The government doesn't have to be toppled, as what happened in Cyprus or Greece and it may catch the locals by surprise. Sometimes, the local governments may impose restrictions overnight as what happened in...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

My friend, let's nail down the discussion and not move around. Store of value is what we were discussing and you're switching to the currency functionality. I was listing advantages of bitcoin as a store of value and if you do not wish to cross borders with your stored wealth, you do not have to...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

Bitcoin is not a company. Gold is not a company either. Are you saying gold is not a storage of wealth? Any investor who takes risks does so on his/her own choice and must live with the results, good or bad. You seem to be claiming that bitcoin will never go back above $20,000 and you may be...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

It's all about perspectives. When I invested in bitcoin in 2013, I experienced the volatility that did not work in my favor as it shot up to all time high (over $1,200 per bitcoin) only to go through a 2 year bear cycle that bottomed at a price of less than $200 per bitcoin. I did not sell and...

    Bitcoin Price Thread

Are you referring to the estimated 1 Million + bitcoins that Satoshi Nakamoto mined and have not moved since the time of their creation? How do you know that the private keys are "lost"? And if they are lost, how do you know they were not destroyed on purpose by Satoshi Nakamoto...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

What's with all the hate, bro? If you're an investor and don't like the fundamentals, don't buy cryptos. If you are a trader, go short CME bitcoin futures and go big size. Good luck.

    Bitcoin Price Thread

If you don't own the private key(s) to the coins, you do not own the coins. It's simply the way bitcoin (cryptos) are designed. If the exchange owns the private keys to the coins, they own them and they "owe" you the coins on paper, but if they shut down or exit scam, you got nothing.

    An Overview of Bitcoin

I thought I answered it already, but here's my last attempt. As a business, there's no currency risk as the payment processor immediately converts to fiat for you so you never touch cryptos. If you wish to accept cryptos (payment) then you sign up as an investor willing to take the currency risk...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

From a user point of view: 1. Exchange Risk is part of the speculative investment asset (in cryptos) that the user signed up for. It's not as bad as it sounds. For certain folks (myself included), I bought in with capital that I could afford to lose and the returns have been in the 10's of...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

Thank you, but you did come here seeking information but you're not willing to put in the work or to be open minded to ideas and you are quick to dismiss. YOu also seem to have this "exclusivity" that if bitcoin (cryptos) are to be currencies, there can be no other. I've already mentioned many...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

You're asking basic questions about bitcoin (cryptos) as if you only learned about it yesterday. Bitcoin was started 9 years ago and it stared with no value to where it is now. There are many resources available for you to study if you are willing to learn. Some of them are posted at the...

    An Overview of Bitcoin

Bitcoin (cryptos), imo, is not trying to replace fiat (i.e. USD) completely. We have many choices when it comes to methods of payment for goods and services, (i.e. fiat, CC's, Apple/Samsung/Android Pay, etc.). As a currency, it is inferior to the local fiat or even CC's when used daily (with...

He's not a trader and more of a wealth-protection kind of guy, but we all know that since we've all read his book The Black Swan :)

Bitcoin vs Gold as a store of value

Thanks for the info. I only trade the underlying (cryptos) so didn't know all the details.

    Taleb on Bitcoin

Taleb is very smart and a deep thinker so natuarally is not shallow-minded to conclude Bitcoin is like tulips or a ponzi based on price-action alone :D
