    IB Down

While downtime is clearly not acceptable, it's not reasonable to draw conclusions about IB's quality assurance in this way. Looking from the outside it's just not possible to know the source of the problem. It could lie in so many different areas. Running high availabitily systems is a lot...

respect for freedom in jolly old england

The real and rather frightening story about the death of freedom in England: "The bill marks the end of true parliamentary democracy; it is as significant as Congress abandoning the Bill of Rights", writes John Pilger http://www.newstatesman.com/200604170017

I did it!...I just configured and ordered a Athlon Dual Core from CyberPowerSystems

Radarscreen should run OK on dual core. If you are just running Radarscreen and nothing else, then there may not be much benefit, but it would be best to ask the vendor. If you are running something else on the box, then dual core should be very beneficial. Dual core is not like hyperthreading...

Making The Switch to Flat Pannels... But Can't Decide.

I think you are probably better off with all screens the same (or at least the same resolution and size), so you can set things like fonts and font sizes, colours etc, to the best setting for every screen. I have a couple of 19" CRTs @ 1600x1200 and a couple of 19" LCDs @ 1280x1024 and there is...

    Hang Seng vs Nik225

As Kiwi said, the problem is not with the IB datafeed, which is fast and reliable. xiaohu's point about the PC clock is important. PC clocks are not very accurate and drift quite quickly. I sync mine every 30 minutes.

Windows XP on Mac,Its official now.

I think the controlled hardware environment is a very important point as it allows quality control of the complete product. I can see why Apple may not want to make OSX available on arbitary x86 hardware and risk their brand image. Windows gets away with dealing with a lot of different...

IB - PLEASE stop those new "features"

I'm not exactly sure what your problem with booktrader is, but it sounds like it may be a graphics rendering issue that can be be due to some sort of interaction between java/swing and the video driver. Sun has some command line options for java that might help. You can read about them here...

Iran Enriched Uranium, Now its the Isreali Response, will they or wont they?

Whether Israeli intelligence is better than CIA is not the point. What they say in public must be considered as propaganda - just like the intelligence services of all other parties in the dispute. Intelligence services always have and very likely always will disseminate disinformation, or to...

    Measuring Execution Speed

If you *really* want or need to do this, one way would be to sniff the network traffic into and out of the PC. Ethereal is the (free) software of choice - http://www.ethereal.com You would need to set up the appropriate filters to exclude all the traffic you aren't interested in from the...

Last Trade at Ask or Bid ( ES/NQ )

Could you provide a little more info on the differences between IB and eSignal ? Have you tried ES/NQ only ? Other instruments ? Is the problem with trade size ? Thanks

Last Trade at Ask or Bid ( ES/NQ )

I think I remember reading on the MarketDelta web site that it supports IB TWS feed.

Last Trade at Ask or Bid ( ES/NQ )

I think this is largely correct wrt the TWS API. The order in which it transmits events is (I think) bid/ask last price last size (for immediately preceding last price). It might not be a true 'tick feed', but it's quite a good approximation. Is is possible that last price that falls...

    Motherboard?

It probably makes little difference to performance except in cases where people overclock their machine to extract extra performance. In this case motherboard and bios may make a difference. This is mostly done by gamers and hobbyists. Overclocking is a poor idea for trading because...

    cpu usage at 100% ???

TWS runs very reliably on Linux. I find CPU utilization to be at most only a few percent, but I only have a handful of futures contracts displayed. To minimize TWS CPU utilization (on Windows or Linux). 1. If you are trading from a third party application, minimize TWS. Most of the TWS...
