Why Can't I Trade with the Trend

Pull up the tape and watch it for a while. Look at which way the "big money" is going. That's your trend. Nothing simpler than that.

Be sure to protect that beautiful floor from the ravages of your chair. A really beautiful office.

    Estimated tax payment rule

Another way to do it is to take 2005 taxes, multiply by 1.10 for 110% and then pay that down as soon as you can. Then you won't have to make any estimated payments for the rest of the year. So in the example, you can just give them $33,000 and then don't worry about it until the following year...

    Estimated tax payment rule

Consult an accountant, but this is what I understand (this may only apply to LLC's and corp). You don't have to pay any tax in the first year. By April 15th of the second year, you will have to pay your taxes on all of the first year's gains PLUS a quarterly installment for the second year...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Looks like it might do the job. Doing the 14 day trial now to see how it works. Thanks.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Oh.. I see. X-Trader does it at the server level, so it is not as easy as Button or TradeMaven to record the session. I know that these recordings are very small because they only keep track of bid/ask/qty/last, etc in a text file and then play it back. I don't use IB and I have been looking...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

This is true on older machines or with less memory. A test run must be done to see how much memory is being utilized and how big a file you generate per minute. There are ways around this though.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

X-Trader will keep recordings of the T&S including changes to the bid/ask, etc, but it will not record a trading session. I think Camtasia is best for this. The files can be archived in many different formats and saved on DVD, if needed.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

You would benefit from a written plan of handling losses. This is where most people who have made the turn and who understand their performance will fall short. Figure out what you will do to be able to continue trading without having to hit that daily limit. Just remember that a trader's worst...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Do you have a daily down limit? If so, do you trade as you were until that limit is hit or do you modify the way you trade to distance yourself from it? That's really where the concern lies since your analysis is providing the details you need for your own style.

    LCD vs CRT for trading

Pay attention to the response time of an LCD and that it is operating at the design resolution. I'm doing a lot with LCD's and haven't noticed any ghosting or blurring unless I'm watching an action move full screen or something when I'm bored.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Hi H2O... I got your PM. Will respond shortly. As far as your questions here: 1. Trader's Edge is ((Avg Winner * % Win) - (Avg Loser * % Loss)). It gives a clearer picture of the magnitude of the trader's performance. For example, you might have 82% winning percentage. But if you are...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Sounds like you have a good system for monitoring your performance. Just pay attention to the time it takes you to take a loser vs. how long it takes a winner if you are scalping. This is where the demon often hides. That statistic is the key to your psychology. Also, look at the time it took in...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

Don't be sorry. A lineout is just a line by line analysis of all your trades. If you scroll up a bit, you will find one of my posts with an attachment. I provide an example for one of my traders from a couple of days ago. Because we do so much volume per day in some many trades, the lineout...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

I tend not to focus on the reason for the trade. I couldn't care less for the reason while scalping. The key thing is what you once you are in. This is where that lineout is important. Having a track record of lineouts, you can pretty much predict the outcome of most trades once you are in.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

I just noticed that the histogram scale is incorrect on the one I posted. In the process of removing the trader's name and some details, I shifted the scale. Here is a fresh one. My previous post will be deleted.

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

That's not scalping though. I can't imagine for a second that I would be writing stuff down right after getting filled and then doing so much stuff away from the flow of the market. What would be the difference between doing all of this right on the trade and doing it all after you are out and...

    Scalping and Analysing your trades

It sounds like you are still trying to figure out the scalping thing. You can seriously gain a lot from doing the following: Put up the tape for the product you trade. It will take a while to get accustomed to it, but it is very useful to know what the market is actually doing at the moment...
