    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

Globex posts prices and volumes - you can trade all you want. For API, theres no shortage of brokers - try Man, IB etc, APIs are not the scary invention they used to be!

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

Why limit your trades to ONE so-called market-maker, when you have futures on euros where there are hundreds of participants watching, trading, showing bids/offers etc etc?

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

With all the talk about this firm, Oanda, I read their Terms & Conditions for trading and its pretty striking. You should read it too when you have time to consider the agreements implications. But, if you're trading with them and making money, why question a good thing?

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

If your hero Oanda is open 24/7/365, why not gun their market (as no one else is open for them to trade with or offset) on a Saturday night / Sunday morning and hit all the stops or force margin calls on naive customers? That forces Oanda to cover from you, the customer, right? If its an...

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

From reading these endless posts, IMHO, the folks who cant "qualify" for a futures a/c, shouldnt be trading leveraged products with small brokers.

    Natural Gas

The media doesnt want to tell people to go look at their electricity bills - in MA, the PUC got a request for a 25% electricity increase due to costs from some utility. Maybe being long some utilities isnt a bad idea.

Only trade qm & qg - it stakes a while to get used to the gaps, the wide spreads and the endless head fakes. For QG, imagine trading bonds, if there were 3-5 tick spreads, routinely, sometimes 10-15. If dealers threw in huge size they had no attention of being hit on, and pulled it if they...

    RefcoFX vs. Oanda

Generally, investors get different legal standing or contracts than customers. If you're a general unsecured creditor of anyone, I think its a good idea to understand their balance sheet. In my experience, all legitimate trading houses will send you audited statements upon request or post...

I wonder what his GPA is, as its now late Sept and he doesnt have a job! Trader-wannabe---why dont you get a job in the back office of some big IB processing trades, clearing exceptions etc. Maybe if you're smart, they'll make you an ass't or even promote you to the IT dep't so you can switch...

Whats the Biggest Instant Fill Size for Institutions and Private Investors?

Theres lots of ways to get size done, but, what difference does it make ? Keep in mind that if you go out and hit 10 banks for 100 bucks each, none will appreicate it, but if you give 1 an order for your full amount, you'd probably get a better fill. Banks dont like being used like punching...

Whats the Biggest Instant Fill Size for Institutions and Private Investors?

In the interbank market, dealers usually agree how much they'll qoute for before asking for prices. , eg, I'll qoute you for X, if you qoute me for X... Customers will usually ask for an amount, eg, cable in 50, etc,

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

My view is simply that if there are latencies along the way, the faster your order gets handled the better. I think its a very reasonable question to ask brokers about their systems, call centers etc.
