e-miNY crude oil and gas futures changes

QG is like a lottery ticket - sometimes it works out, sometimes worthless. I probably trade QG just for the adrenalin rush. Handing $500 to women at a bar is probably more fun and yield greater results than trading QG for me. But I still like it. When I said placing a limit order at the mkt...

e-miNY crude oil and gas futures changes

If you place a limit order at the market, it gets filled. Sometimes you get a wide mkt and a fill needs 2 or 3 ticks from where the inside mkt was 10 seconds ago. Its why I never use mkt orders - but yes, mkt order you get filled asap, but maybe not where you thought. QG is even worse...

    Short Silver

If you take physical delivery of a silver bar, you should check to see if you need to submit it for assaying before it can go back on warrant for re-delivery.

Been trading QM since the switchover, no problem entering orders. IMO, why use a market order when limit does the same thing?

Why not offer to work half-price for a large firm? If you're any good, they'll pay you fairly, if not you're fired. At least you'll get some income and some experience.

FXCM Is Buying RefcoFX - Deal is Done - Funds are safe

2cent- Thanks for posting. Interesting indeed. I think the issue of "costs" related to sweeping funds into some sort of seg a/c is a red herring. I just doint see it as an issue if they have 11,000 accounts. It just requires a push of a button to move funds, its not like someone is carrying a...

I think Don gave a very fair answer. Last question from me, is how come you dont post the financials on the web? It would seem to save you the trouble of answering geeks like me who have the same question.

    Short Silver

If the silver ETF gives birth, silver will explode. IMHO, the gold etf which pulled over 210 tonnes of gold off the market, is mainly responsible for higher gold prices now. We'll see if this phenomena continues next year.

    Anyone skip the middle-man?

I only trade through top tier name firms. I prefer the lower credit risk to higher leverage available elsewhere.

FXCM Is Buying RefcoFX - Deal is Done - Funds are safe

TraderG- I understand your points well, but 2cents issue is he is non-US based and looking to use a high-leverage firm yet wants a credit-shield in case the fx-broker implodes. Its a worthwhile question. There are lots of credit analysis tools available to monitor firms, but controlling a...

I guess I dont understand what difference an email or posting here makes. One guy asked what happens if you lose more than they "deposit" with you, like $5 or $10Gs more and what happens - do you absorb it or sue them? I asked if you post an audited balance sheet. Seems like pretty...

Just get a normal trader job at a big house - offer to work at half-pay or free, and you'll get more experience, more training and more exposure to real industry professionals.

How many have had this happen?

Be honest about what you do, or they'll think you're some sort of mobster or drug dealer.

FXCM Is Buying RefcoFX - Deal is Done - Funds are safe

2cent--Was thinking about your dilemma and has 2 thoughts . Maybe ask the forex counterparty to amend their agreemnt to include some sort of langauge like- 1. If ownership changes or credit deteriorates to X level, your funds will immediately be wired out. Of course its impossible to monitor...

Its too bad Don only answers questions selectively, considering some of the claims and comments that have been made here.

Hey Don, Do you post an audited balance sheet? Theres an awful lot of vaguely worded comments here. An audited balance sheet cuts through a lot of fluff.

    Advice, Prop trader

Dont waste your time - a real Ib will never hire a "prop" trader. Its simply a waste of your time and money. Go to a top tier school, spend the time and money and you'll get a good job and make than you;ll ever make working in some bucket shop.

    is Friday worth trading

It varies - expect low participation, and exaggerrated moves. I think its worth it, if you're mentally and physically prepared. Trading isnt like some office job where you can overeat, drink etc and show up for work and take a nap.
