    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I took a look. If you had just bet long for the year there was 42 pts net difference between the Thursday close and the Friday SET -- of course if you had bet short! That doesn't take into account cost of buying the option and the distance to the next strike...but for a rough cut it might be...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I was looking at selling the 1245 about 5mins before the close -- it was going for $.70ish. Having learned the above, I now feel like there are times where it pays to buy the nearest OTM call/put depending on the day's bias as a punt. That was a huge pay off today -- 9 pts for a .70 investment...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Ick...seems highly rigable. It also explains a bit about today's opening action -- at least to me. Someone made a killing. Thanks. :)

I'm missing something here obviously. I thought the SET was the opening price of the SPX on Friday. How could it be higher than the high of the day?

IV, would you be willing to post your numbers when you finish? I'm interested in understanding how people are looking at the valuing of the barrier vs the vanilla -- all other things being equal. Thanks, Sam

    Option replication and exotics journal

Yes... I was musing on the defined risk point the last few days -- while still not coming up with an answer about the difference in pricing a binary and a vanilla with identical expiry dates. I actually think the shorter time frame of the trades is also advantageous. To follow this strategy...

One obvious one: If GM were found to have been seriously cooking the books of the financing unit the whole thing will blow.

Well, I run auto-trading systems so charting is less important to me. FWIW, I use IBCharts which is also free, WLD charts, and the charts IB provides itself. I used to use Sierra and Quotetracker but realized I didn't need to spend the extra $s...

I don't disagree with your point. It just didn't happen to be responsive to the one I was making -- nor did I indicate how many data feeds I actually run. I certainly agree about CQG being a topline feed and the need for more than one feed.

No exchange fees. TS still charges exchange fees right? Actually, I'm not trying to push a TS/IB comparison/confrontation here, I was just noting what it would take to get me to seriously consider TS over IB. TS offers a whole array of backtesting and market scanning capabilities that IB...

IB has free quotes on most markets if you trade $30/month in commissions -- that's free in my book.

Looks good. If you offered free data like IB I'd have to give it serious thought.
