Venezuela threatens anew to turn off oil spigot to US

I agree with your thought that the US should correct is dependancy on imported crude but China with its increasing demand imports about 5% of the world's capacity, so to me it is not large enough to consume the oil from those nations antagonistic to the US. IMO, a lot of those countries dislike...

Goldman: OIL to stay above $60 for years

IMO, everyone who puts forth an analysis for oil (typically it will say something like demand is going up and prices going up), ignores or barely mentions new supplies that are a result of the huge investments in E&P activity the past couple of years. There will be a lot of new production...

    Dual Broadband and Dual WAN

Phone placed trades with your broker usually costs a lot more, for example, Tradestation Securities (TSS) charges $20 (if I remember correctly) for trades placed by phone. A better solution is to connect the old fashioned way by phone modem and close your trades out. I had an occasion when...

Venezuela threatens anew to turn off oil spigot to US

I believe the "what I said you refer to is your statement: "Its just Chavez making his country happy, by saying F#$k You America. Nothing more." In addition to my mention of Chavez playing to the home audience as you did, I added information re. the US confiscating CITGO as well as other...

Venezuela threatens anew to turn off oil spigot to US

Great point not to mention if he plays hard to get with his oil the US can confiscate CITGO and other assets. Plus, most of Vz. crude is heavy and takes a special refinery, like the one in Corpus Christi (CITGO) to run it. Sounds to me, like he is shooting his mouth to score points at home. DS

    Earthlink DSL

I had ds"Hell" for a while. FWIW-in my case, I had 2 major issues that made the service unreliable. First, I had some bad connectors and a bad section of wire in my home phone wiring. Of course, the phone company could not figure it out, a neighbor who was at one time a phone tech fixed...

Oil takes down this market starting today...

Anyone in the camp that we are in an oil bubble. Data seems to suggest the current rise in prices are overdone: eg-US crude inventories up 10% year over year. DS

Tradestation 8.1 Miscalulates Buying Power, Margin Calls may result

Couldn't have said it better myself. And, let's not forget the infamous, ALWAYS ALL GREEN network status page that shows all is well when all is NOT well, especially that time when the trade server went out shortly before trading started in stocks, and TS did not bother to tell any of their...

Tradestation 8.1 Miscalulates Buying Power, Margin Calls may result

IMO, I use TS to develop systems and generate signals. I find it to be good, but like all software filled with glitches and bugs. If you are asking TS v IB as a broker, TS writes good software. If you are asking TS v IB used to develop and test systems, IB is a very good broker. IMO...

Crude over $60 will not last long

Your thesis suggest that no new supplies of oil will be coming on stream in spite of the flood of billions of dollars invested in new E&P projects. A different take on the subject by Pullitzer Prize winning author Daniel Yergin: " BREATHING ROOM It's not the end of the Oil Age— yet...

Let's collaborate - components of a good ATS

I think you are filled with hubris. I autotrade from home with good success. You seem to think that is not possible. My flaky net connection is very stable and it has been a couple years since I had to go on backup. At this point, I have not figured out how to switch automatically from...

Let's collaborate - components of a good ATS

I'd suggest some hardware items: UPS backup computer that will come online if the primary computer fails 2 data feeds, a primary and backup 2 Internet accesses, say cable and dsl with auto switching And, a set routine to test all of the above so that when they are needed, they will...

Why we are in a Bull Market

Because the market is going up seems reason enough to me. OTOH-if you are looking for a logical explanation, there are the usual suspects you could point to to prove the markets rise is consistent with underlying fundamentals or by selecting other macro factors show it is not consistent...
