Naked ATM call now waaay OTM...

Make up your mind, is it a risk argument, or is it a margin/equity argument? I have a lot of money sitting on the sidelines earning 0.01% a month. My decision to pick up an August position has *nothing* to do with the current July positions.

Naked ATM call now waaay OTM...

And the *counter* counter argument goes... which goes to the "think of each decision as a new trade" attitude... If I really thought the odds were in my favor, I'd go out there and buy deep OTM nickel calls/puts everywhere. Which in itself might be a perfectly valid strategy as well...

Naked ATM call now waaay OTM...

Right, as I noted, risk is the primary consideration. The other side of the argument here though... as I've mentioned before, I have ~75 positions a month. I'm really playing the odds/statistics here. If I give up that nickel every time on whatever percentage of those 75 positions are deep...

Naked ATM call now waaay OTM...

To be honest, I have far more margin than positions I can find... so having capital tied up in that isn't much of an issue. The greater concern in my mind is the (non-insignificant) risk that APWR spikes back up and gets back into play. That might be a good reason to just give up the 5...

Naked ATM call now waaay OTM...

Hi, So, just interested in thoughts on this. I sell front-month ATM calls/puts, hedging and holding on for expiration. And occasionally, the underlying goes way OTM... which means I'm very likely to get the full premium. But my question is... should I perhaps buy a new ATM call, and...

How do I get a "local"?

*Exactly*. Makes me think the trade desks working our order are probably just monitoring the equivalent of our passport... and just telling us when they happen to notice the fill. I should've been monitoring that thing all along. It's really frustrating sometimes how some segments of the...

How do I get a "local"?

I love the ability to IM. I'm only just discovering that it's widely used amongst brokers... such a great tool. That's actually one reason I'm not especially pleased with my current IB; they will quote me via IM, but insist I place orders over the phone. That's so 20th century. I had...

How do I get a "local"?

Interesting... can you tell me what you're using to both submit and monitor your fills? I'm also with IBs for RCG, so we should have similar applications. Right now, the option made available to me (with Mirus at least) is that I call their trade desk, which calls RCG trade desk... and...

    NYMEX vs NYBOT softs

Hi, Just curious *why* NYMEX/Globex cocoa (CJ) is not fungible with NYBOT/ICE cocoa (CC). Both seem to have similar specifications... 10 metric tons of cocoa. But I've read it repeatedly that the two are not fungible... I realize NYBOT is physical settled while NYMEX is cash-settled, but...

Futures trading + Zen-Fire + direct pit access

Tried that. But they are absolutely religious about staying vendor agnostic. I've tried my best pleading tone, and could get nowhere with them. Oh wait, let me clarify. They were able to tell me who supports ZenFire, and that was it. It's when I ask for comparisons between ZF/TT/Pats...

How do I get a "local"?

My main goal is getting quick confirmation on the fill, if/when it happens. My (minimal) experience is that every layer of trade desk adds easily 5 minutes in each direction there. Other info is really not that important to me. I can do my own setup on the basis of settlement prices +...

How do I get a "local"?

I'm a (novice) retail customer looking to start trading ag future options (grain, wheat, oat). Not huge quantities, but probably 50-250 contracts a month once I get into the swing of things. I need to go direct instead of my broker's trade desk. I don't have a problem paying a give-up...

    Hedgestreet

I assume you can't write options, if there is only limited risk? I guess I question how much of a "market" it can be, if participants can only take one side of the trade.

    Alternatives to IB

TDA isn't a bad choice either, if you're trading equities. Also compatible with both Ninja and Quotetracker.

Brewer Futures - Anyone heard of'em?

I bet if you look back at your long, distinguished, and incredibly successful career... there was at least one day, one hour, one minute, or even one microsecond when you weren't aware of what was available at the NFA website. But thank you for the advice, nonetheless.

Brewer Futures - Anyone heard of'em?

Haha, very useful info. Is there a searchable database of these complaints...?

Brewer Futures - Anyone heard of'em?

Anyone know anything about Brewer Futures...? http://www.brewerfuturesgroup.com/Tradingtools/Tradingtools.htm Not a peep out of the Elite Trader review site. What do I need to watch out for if I were to try a relative unknown like this...? As long as they clear with a reputable firm, am...

Futures trading + Zen-Fire + direct pit access

I have about 5000 lines of code, and six months of development time tied up in my NinjaTrader strategy. So for now at least, I really am tied to one particular feed on one particular platform!

Futures trading + Zen-Fire + direct pit access

As far as I can tell, both brokers have minimal electronic trading.. no ZF/NT, for sure.

Futures trading + Zen-Fire + direct pit access

Hi, I posted a thread about this a few weeks ago, and now I'm back. For various reasons, I might have to look around for a new broker. I'm hoping everything will work out with my current broker (who's worked his butt off for me)... but at the end of the day, you can't argue with...
