Trader P/L 2006 Questions and Discussion

I agree. I already take the thread with a grain of salt, but I have known a great many extremely profitable traders who were far above my level and none of them ever just saved their neck on 15k, nor would they have the hubris to claim that if so. Anything can be claimed on ET, and...

    HYBRID, good news.

15 times a day? That's pretty significant day after day if so. From my trading, I haven't seen a (significant) sweep in over a week. I'm sure you guys are more observant with small sweeps coming in on your entries and exits than I am. Also, I know you guys use limit orders more than me. I...

    HYBRID, good news.

A large buyer (or seller) hitting each resting limit on the book instead of sweeping everything and printing higher. Price improvement for the limits all the way up won't happen anymore (hasn't happened significantly in a while anyway).

    HYBRID, good news.

I never rested limits on arca. Anyone know if Arca orders become "billable" after a period of time like on SDOT? Like, most firms cancel-replace SDOT limits to avoid the fee. I know this may be a little unclear. I never read much on arca fees since I mainly use them for inconspicuous orders...

    Moving to portfolio trading..

In addition, private equity and hedge funds do not rely on commission income from traders, but on the strategies they deploy in the markets. In fact, private equity is most commonly understood as taking large stakes in at-risk companies and reforming them. Both do not require a large supply of...

    How do you position trade

Yeah, I have some of those. Also have my eye on several insurance stocks, though I have to see a bit more intraday price action to start taking full positions.

Gap up, then watch the first 5-20 min. If you see bids walk in and come back after being filled, offers lifting, big prints going off, then it's safe to jump on and catch a quick move. Play it like a scalp and notice when it begins to consolidate. After that you may notice a...

Looking for Prop firm / Simplex?

S7 isn't too hard of a test especially if you already have a basic knowledge of the securities industry, and the right prop firms really aren't really much cause for worry. Why not keep it in mind down the road? The leveage and commissions can be very helpful for an already successful trader.

    How do you position trade

Yes, I found that out myself. I started at a chop shop and once I discovered what was going on I switched to a legit firm, then moved out of the city to a different trading setup. You'd be impressed at how aggressively my previous firm tried to threaten me into staying though. I almost...

    How do you position trade

Of course, although he probably is locked into a non-compete contract that bars him from trading at another firm for a year or two. Standard practice for a few notorious firms in the NYC and Chicago area. Different strategy than Genesis, Echo, Benchmarq (from what I hear from traders there)...

Problem is he's stuck at a chop shop though, which restrict their traders to day only (for good reason, since they don't teach them anything).

    How do you position trade

Open book is crucial for following order flow, particularly because you can see orders come in at the inside and watch if they get posted or printed. Further from the inside it's less valuable, but it can still give vague indications of levels where buyers and sellers get active (but I think...

    Japan ET Home

The amazing thing some people discover when they go to other countries is that American culture isn't really world culture, and that sometimes you need to adapt and understand, so as not to offend. That is, unless you are fine with being treated like an interesting but annoying animal.

Rapid development favors a fluid labor force, fluid labor force favors high mobility, high mobility favors diminished family, social and land ties, which leads to fragmented connection to authority and the wisdom that comes from elders in the family and community. All this leads to favoring...

    How do you position trade

It will take you some time of really watching price action to get a sense of how patterns unfold, using charts combined with the tape. Don't be afraid to cut down your 20k a day vol substantially and just watch. Your firm will not like it, but it's your money and labor and you have to keep...

    Intraday Portfolio Trading

Excellent topic ChaosNSX I'll preface this by saying I personally feel scalping is too sensitive to technology changes and too mentally draining, so I really dislike it, however as long as there is demand for liquidity on short time frames, there will always be inefficiencies for ultra-short...
