The treacherous path to $200k a year

Its not a question of worrying about what you make cause I know it will not affect me, what does bother me is people giving out advice in a field that I participate in that isnt successful. I am moderately successful, that is to say I make 120k+ a year trading. But I am always seeking out...

learning curve from trading listed to nasdaq

Yeah, overanalyzing things can be harmful. I just mean, for myself at least, that there are a few things I look for and when i see them, I take advantage. It gives me a glimpse into the future (at least as much as possible in this game).

I agree, but it does help justify taking certain positions when you get confirmation from the specialists actions.

learning curve from trading listed to nasdaq

Once you have traded listed long enough, you can see if the specialist is buying or selling. This guy has access to order flow. Do you think he would be taking in lots of stock (or selling) around a certain level if he didnt think it was a good idea? Of course not. Now he will let it squeeze and...

What kind of size positions are you taking? Give me a recent example of a position and what size you took on it.

learning curve from trading listed to nasdaq

There is no question about it, there is no way to disagree. It is much easier to read the activity of one as opposed to many. Its pure mathematics. One person has an agenda and many have many agendas. Many agendas=many variables.

The treacherous path to $200k a year

You still havent talked about how successful or not you are in the financial markets. Honesty is hugely important, mainly for yourself. You have a very long thread going here and have posted on many many different threads offering your knowledge but have yet to provide evidence of your...

learning curve from trading listed to nasdaq

Your thinking is backwards, the activity of one is much easier to figure than the activity of many. Specialists have tendencies and those tendencies can be taken advantage of.

How successful are you at trading listed w/o reading the tape? 20k a month or more?

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

I am sure he means that 2-4 cents is an average which can be very good. I dont think he means look to catch 2-4 cents and get out. On your winners, you'll catch lets say 80 cents and your losers you'll lose 5-10 cents. Over time, if you avg all your trades, you'll be ahead say 4 cents. I believe...

    Level II

Think about it, if the stock was going to go up at that moment, the bids would step up and asks would step back. If the reverse is happening, then the stock is probably not going up at this point in time. Also, the specialist can only buy on downticks so if he wanted to get long, he'd have to...

    Optimum number of Monitors ?

Instead of multiple monitors, I like to keep it simple and trade on one giant IMAX screen. You kinda get neck cramps after a little while but you sure dont run out of room for charts and stuff.

    Trader P/L 2005

+1317, very nice morning, afternoon was a little tough. Tried hard not to churn too much. Caught a few nice moves into the close which salvaged my P&L a little. Energies were once again my horses.

Do I have Illusions of Grandeur ?

Not all prop firms are the same. In my 2+ years at my firm, not once has anyone told me to trade more and churn more commissions. As a matter of fact, we were told to trade LESS when times were slow. They are more interested in developing successful traders for the long term rather than churn...
