Tips for a new Proprietary Trader?

The open book is a seperate box, I guess you can position it next to your level 2's but its a different monster altogether than just your level 2 quotes. Used properly, it can be a huge asset, unfortunately it takes quite awhile to know how to use it the right way.

Tips for a new Proprietary Trader?

Please, if you dont know what something is just say "I dont know what that is". You are going to confuse the poor kid. Open book is not level 2's, its the NYSE Specialist limit book that can be seen by the public. Buy limits and sell limits are placed and shown in the Open Book.

My blotter had issues today and gave me the wrong P&L. I thought it seemed a little high. Real net P&L $1057

Honestly I cant tell you what exactly made me feel the way I did about the market this morning, it was basically a combination of things that made me feel like I needed to be more conservative and tighten my trading up. It comes with time. You will build up intuition and your mind and body will...

    Daytrading for nickels and dimes.

Yes, in equities and today after taking a nice hit off the open and seeing that my stocks were trading a lot thinner than they normally would, I have been trading small positions, 500-1000 shares. Id rather not share what stocks I trade but I will tell you that today, overall, I am taking many...

why take off? Just learn to sharpen your game. This day sucks big time but I have been able to pull out $900 so far. I chip away small gains all day, hoping to add $300 or more by days end. Nothing flashy but it does add up. It IS a grind but its how I make a living. I cant change the market...

Some days nickels and dimes are all you can safely get, and some days you are a piker if you are only catching that. The hard part is being able to determine that very early on in the day.

NYSE 2 minutes window for specialist rule

Limits are another story altogether, but if your market doesnt fill in 2 minutes, you should call it in. I have done this before and have gotten price improvement. I also work at a firm where I can call our ROP and he takes care of it, not too sure what you'd do if you trade from your home.

Yeah, 20k+ in Oct and probably a little less than that the previous two months but nonethesless he has made good $$ in that stock recently. How did he do it? I wish I knew too, but he is a very good trader and I am sure he knows when to really size in.
