Are shorts more available at Prop firms?

I would say most definitely. At my firm, maybe only twice in my two years was I not able to short a stock I wanted to short. Then I'd just call our ROP and usually they'd find shares and make them available.

Stats for successful trader in prop ?

Certainly not half but there are a bunch (at least 9-10 guys out of 40 in my group) making between 100k-300k a year. So averaged out, thats 10K+ a month. But thats only in my specific group. There are a bunch of others group within my firm and I dont know how well they do. I do know of at least...

    RXIS's Journal

Dont you think you should be trading 100 share lots until you show profitability? I mean, if something isnt working all that well, there is no sense to up your size trying to "make it back". I have quickly read through your journal and you seem to be making normal rookie mistakes (which is...

If you knew this, how many contracts would you buy/sell?

If liquidity is not an issue and there is a 90% probability that the stock will drop 5+ points in my favor and I can use 50.31 as my stop for my entire position so I am risking 11 cents to make 5+ points, I would short at least 100,000 shares. I'd be willing to lose $11k to make over 500k. Of...

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

Thats cool man, you've been to (and traded from) many places already and are only 27. Sounds like a route that I'd like to take at some point.

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully when I do reach my 40's I will be a smarter and better trader than I am now :)

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

I hear what you are saying but I doubt that the brand new guys outwardly claim to be "elite". If they did, then they deserve to be brought back down to earth. 24 months of profitability is a little extreme. I, myself, have probably only been profitable for 14 months, but have made almost...

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

Thats pretty condescending considering you are a newbie yourself, at least after reading your million $$ quest thread started THIS PAST Oct, it sounds like you are. Dont get down on traders for being new. No one goes from novice to "elite" overnight.

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

I quickly went through the first couple pages and realized I recognized only one or two names. I guess we lose some members over the course of 3 years :D

    Rates...let's discuss.

I dont know this guy at all but he has been a member here for 2+ years. It would definitely be weird if he just signed up for an account and started to post this stuff. Maybe he should be given the benefit of the doubt?

Positive expectancy to being long stocks.

well said....everything is an opportunity cost. why have your $$$ tied up long term in a poorly timed investment when you could be making it work for you now?
