Democrat threatens to nuke Americans if they resist gun confiscation

Government has tanks too I heard. Need to keep those modern AT weapons at home to protect muh rights. The idea that a bunch of morons with ARs will be able to take on the world's most powerful military without support from part of said military is a fairytale. Since you have at least a...

Fewer than 5% of top-tier bank traders have Sharpe ratios > 3

While Sharpe ratio is optimal in a mathematical sense for maximizing the compounding growth rate, in practice looking at complementary metrics according to your trading objectives is necessary. Another obvious foot note is that past measured Sharpe ratio isn't necessarily predictive of future...

(Norwegian) Trader blows €100m hole in Nasdaq’s Nordic power market

Looked around a bit. Seems electricity products are just 4-5x leverage. The info I found was in Swedish, an example translate.google link that seemed to work...

(Norwegian) Trader blows €100m hole in Nasdaq’s Nordic power market

Doubt it's that complicated, electricity derivatives are available to non-professionals on the Swedish (Nasdaq) stock exchange. That guy was probably trading the underlying derivatives of those. Up to ESMA around 250x leverage was offered on some products, e.g. minilong/minishort warrants on the...

Finate State Machine (FSM)-based long-term strategies

Yep, also; In the video game industry for strategy games we avoided FSMs wherever possible because a system easily is in wrong state at the time a decision is needed. I do code with FSMs occasionally, e.g. to separate between the states of being uninvested and invested (which makes sense for...

Ex-Budget Director Stockman Says Trump Tax Cuts Will Cause 'All Hell to Break Loose'

Oh don't get me wrong, I retain my long bias for now. It's pointless trying to predict when finally it will turn.

Ex-Budget Director Stockman Says Trump Tax Cuts Will Cause 'All Hell to Break Loose'

Wishful thinking is indeed the most appropriate label. In Sweden we'll unfortunately be pulled down along into the financial hole Trump is digging when it turns around. But hey, at least trading is going to be exciting, as in '08.

Noob Here About To Jump In

You will lose money initially (as in having negative expectancy, you may well win your first few trades...) The good news is you can make the learning experience as expensive as you like. If you're smarter than most, stay for a long time on a paper account (although some people can't handle the...

Anyone found a good 100:1+ Margin FX Broker yet??

Just imo, the only sort of trader having "their dreams crushed" by 1:30 rules is the reckless one. Yes, there are legit reasons of keeping a small amount of money on account, but trying to make a living by trading 10k networth at 1:100 is not one of them.

How much can a retail algo trader expect to earn?

Before or after leverage? The larger you get the more you run into liquidity issues rendering the supposed exponential growth of strategies a moot point. Big traders are essentially going to have fixed income.

Go for manual or automated trading simulation?

I will some time next week register and have a look, my initial impression is positive and I was definitely not expecting this amount of progress.

Go for manual or automated trading simulation?

I will answer this and more generally how my view has developed. And I don't intend to elevate myself in this forum: I am a minor retail trader/educated software eng that fairly recently (past two years) started being consistent; which one might rightfully argue is a too small time to indicate...

Go for manual or automated trading simulation?

I really do think a tool should support both manual and automated backtesting at the same time (because I end up hating to lack manual in the auto tools I've used), then again manual requires plenty GUI work to not be frustrating to use.

Go for manual or automated trading simulation?

Don't code GUI if you can avoid it, the hours quickly pile up even when you're doing something minimal for your own usage.
