Snuskpelle's (kind of) Intraday Adventures 2019

Accidentally shorted NAS by -2 units (thank you interface) when I tried to downscale JP225 position, lost 10 EUr. Closed JP225 at 20224 because misclicking is a sign I should go to bed. German data 8 am in morning, 1 am here. NAV 18055. NATGAS pos went down over weekend but that's fine. Met...

Closes ASX200 x -6 @ 5688 Started moving quickly in wrong direction so closed for minor profit. Edit: In hindsight it probably will look stupid, but anyway.

ASX200AUD x 6 @ 5682.9 Risk of mean reversion but taking this to ride on positive sentiment today. Edit: Stop 5619

Snuskpelle's (kind of) Intraday Adventures 2019

Trade remaining open from last week: buy NATGASUSD x 1050 @ 3.00, stop 2.57 Purely speculative minor position on seasonality and mean reversion opportunity (came down hard from October-November highs). Intended to be held weeks if necessary but I tend to be quite quick in closing profits if I...

Snuskpelle's (kind of) Intraday Adventures 2019

Rules/aims: Add 0.5% of tiny account size (18000 EUR) per market day except Tuesdays when I'm required to be in elsewhere or whenever my girlfriend breaks my monitor time (she is more random than the market). Actually aiming at 1% on good days because I know there will be long streaks of time...

Make your goals/predictions here for 2019...

I would like to achieve semi-automation eventually (in fact I spent a few years writing trading algos before I decided I would do manual trading again). But yeah, semi-automation could pick the SL for me based on vol, and that would have been better under these circumstances.

Make your goals/predictions here for 2019...

I don't I guess, leverage is only analyzed post mortem. My app keeps track of used margin etc. so I really just care about trade size vs size of my account, size of loss at SL, and volatility (the latter which my app doesn't auto-calc for unfortunately). I said NQ but I am on CFD based on NQ so...

Make your goals/predictions here for 2019...

Or what the heck, I might try it and quit if I see it muddying my thinking. I do have a journal to myself on Google Drive since a few years so I could simply write here instead.

Make your goals/predictions here for 2019...

The thing is, invariably people would post their opinions on markets in there, which in turn would impact my decision making subconsciously even if I tried to avoid it. To be fair this is also the case in other parts of the forum (even this thread), but it's easier to avoid when people remain...

Nah not going to make it a habit, I wouldn't want it to influence my trading. Just blowing off some steam, apologies.

Make your goals/predictions here for 2019...

Having another go at intraday trading this year (as opposed to my usual days-weeks holding periods) as clearly the market regime has been more volatile than usual lately and now the moves are actually frequently large enough to offset transaction costs. Aiming at 0.5%/day. Started off week...

Why did the USD/JPY just collapse 400 pips?

Was on the right side of this one, kinda sux I didn't have any algo/trailing stop to close at the favorable price though.

    50-100% monthly returns

Oh I am very much aware of compounding, I did pay attention in elementary school. Your calculation is off though, it's more like 12875% annual return. He says he doesn't compound (and nobody with any experience would trade 10x leverage with their entire networth). I don't see how this is a...

    50-100% monthly returns

First of all, thank you for your insight. It's rare to have winning consistent traders (I'd wager <10%) of posting on here. Just a note, there's no free lunch since accuracy is a function of R/R. If one is aiming for 5:1 RR the skill is all about where to place a stoploss that doesn't very...

"The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain liquid"

There will be a great opportunity to buy and hold but doing it too soon will kill you. We're at the part of the business cycle we should be seeing a proper bear market... The only thing that's surprising is how long this cycle lasted.

    And so it begins...

Suspect even quite a few quants love ignoring "exceptional" cases like 2008 in their backtesting.
