    betting on fed funds futures

Can someone please explain to me how to bet that the fed will not raise rates at the next meeting? I see there are CBOT contracts on fed funds but I don't understand the pricing when I looked at it on IB? Is it tradeable on IB?

IB failure to execute opening orders

Two weeks later-- I never got a full explanation of what happened, but I did get the trade. The same thing happened with an opening order the very next day, and it was small so I didn't bother to bring it up. It sure seems like it's not an Exchange issue. In the second case, I know it...

    DOes anyone knwo about dividends?

Declaration of a dividend by a Board of Directors creates a legal obligation on the part of the company to pay the dividend. Please note that dividends are generally declared quarterly by US companies. Until the Board "declares" there is no obligation to pay dividends at all. As far as...

IB failure to execute opening orders

IB has posted, after the close, a 33,000 share short sale for me at $3.25. They say there were three rulings, the 1st was in my favor, the specialist appealed and won, and then IB's clearing agent appealed and the ruling went my way. I've never heard of three rulings on a $10k p&L item. let's...

IB failure to execute opening orders

Your data isn't correct. Opening print was at 3.25 and is valid. I filled 23000 there on another system. IB is saying AMEX has ruled in my favor. Will let everyone know if the trade goes through.

IB failure to execute opening orders

Don, I think the problem is really with IB as the order received an acknowledgement . IB is saying the stock opened at a time different from that on the tape, and that I am not due a fill. Again, it's only $8250, so I am sure IB will take responsibility for their system problems --NOT as in...

IB failure to execute opening orders

Vikana, thanks but you are not correct. If you are in to short at 3 and the stock opens at 3.10 your are GUARANTEED a fill. I understand your reluctance to trade AMEx but there are rules and those rules MUST be followed.

IB failure to execute opening orders

IB is saying that although I sent the order in time, for one reason or another it was not acknowledged by the exchange unitl after the open. I sent orders on other systems at later times and still got the opening print. Oh, well, it's only $8,250. There's something missing here. I have asked...

IB failure to execute opening orders

I am aware amex had problems, but the orders were placed after the problems ended and some of the stocks had opened. The orders received an "acknowledged" message but IB's own trade issues person doen't know if this is an IB or exchange message.Further I received executions on other trading...

IB failure to execute opening orders

Has anyone experienced opeing only orders being cancelled instead of executed? This morning I was in to short 33,000 EZM at 3 and 3.10 and instead of a fill I received a cancellation 2 minutes after the opening. The stock opened at 3.25. How long does it take IB to deal with a problem that...

For guys at Schony, Trillium, Opus, Hold, or institutional traders

I think you are selling short (without a "locate") your chances of getting an IB job. For example, I attended public high school and sat next to (and cheated off) the guy who is now global head of IB at Lehman. He was an extremely bright guy, and his dad pushed him to compete. Not sure...

    $1 mill per year trading

This is a thread intended solely for those who have made over $1 million trading in a given year. If you haven't , you are welcome to read along, but , frankly, we multimillionaires could care less than Ted Kennedy cared about Mary Jo Kopechne what you think. We KNOW how to print money. Thus...

Do You think CNBC is foxerizing their Network?

I just bought a new car and when the salesman found out I was a trader, he started telling me how he's been selling covered calls for years, and he paid for 5 kids' college education this way. I didn't want to get into a discussion of the fact he's really selling naked puts, cuz expaining...

Funniest thing ever seen at a prop firm

We had an office in AZ with only 1 guy in it, but a lot of trading stations. Someone went to the office to check on it and the guy was living in the office, trading in his bathrobe, wandering the building in his bathrobe, had a stack of porn in the corner. His clothes were strewn throughout.

Strange question for traders at home

I masturbate thrice before the opening. It certainly keeps me wide awake, and, as long as I'm at my trading station, it lubricates the fan on my computer.

IB phantom trades and order type changes

I was trying to widen the "bid" column on the EUR so I could see the full price and the next thing I knew, an order to sell $25k had been entered and filled. I use IB for mostly after hours stuff due to the large short list.
