I picked up 4 x LG QHD 32" monitors on sale from Costco but can't get my FirePro W4100 to work with them at max "native" resolution (2560 x 1440 @ 75hz). The max resolution tops out at only 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz in Win 7 control panel (the resolution of my old monitors). I clean reinstalled the...
My old rig had NVS 285 vidcard. The Nvidia driver was buggy and it crashed from time to time even though I clean installed each new update. I went with AMD vidcard this time around and it has been rock solid.
I picked up a FirePro W4100 with 4 ports on eBay for around $50 before I saw your post. It's an official Dell supported card for the 5810. I read there may be a slight chance of system stability issue if you run 2 cards when you can go with just 1 for not a whole lot more. Let's see how that...
My 5810 comes with the 425W power supply and AMD FirePro W2100 2GB DDR3 vidcard. I'm currently running a dual monitor setup and want to upgrade to 4 monitors. The vidcard has only 2 outputs and will only support 2 monitors AFAIK. Should I upgrade the vidcard or just add another identical AMD...
I wonder how much you typically make per year from trading to justify TTS as hiring a trader tax accountant like Green for ongoing bookkeeping, etc. is not cheap. Is there some sort of "minimum" gain per year consistently before you should even start looking at going TTS?
What's the latest options "bible" with coverage on weeklies, especially on the write side? McMillan's "Options as Strategic Investment" latest edition was written in 2012 and doesn't cover this topic.

They automatically assume everyone striking out on his own with stocks/trading is a daytrader and the negative connotation that comes with it (e.g. gambler, unemployed / can't get a real job, loser living in parent's basement, etc). That's why I get tongue tied all the time with this question.
How do you calculate your estimated tax payment every quarter when 100% of your income comes from trading full time? I mean there's no way to predict how much you are going to make in this business. You may make a killing this quarter and then have a huge draw down next.
Is there any performance advantage when you match the sticks in even sizes as well, i.e. 4 x 8GB sticks vs 2 x 8GB sticks + 4 x 4GB sticks that came with my rig?
My old rig had C2Q Q6600 and it got enough speed to handle anything that I threw at it. The only bottleneck was the lack of RAM when the mobo maxed out at 8GB. So 32GB RAM in the new rig should give it enough headroom to stay usable in the foreseeable future.
Just picked this up for ~$300: Dell Precision 5810, Xeon E5-1603v3 2.8GHz, 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD, Win 10 Pro, AMD FirePro W2100. Did I do well? The amount of RAM on this setup should keep it usable for a long time.
My decade old Dell workstation just crapped out and looking for a replacement. Should I go for Xeon or i7 in the new rig? ET Pro is my trading platform with minimum of 3 monitors. I'll be using the rig for regular office stuff, watching vids and surfing the web outside of trading (hundreds of...
