Today's 3 charts of BAC / not same

Dear- I see there are three different cases of graphs, for today's OHLC of BAC. 1) yahoo.com http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=BAC+Interactive#{"range":"1d"} 2) tradingview.com https://www.tradingview.com/chart/?symbol=NYSE:C Type BAC instead of C. 3) However, IB shows today's BAC as...

Average # of trades per day

In the long run, most traders should pay comm+tax as much as double the price of his home. That is why most frequent traders do NOT have home. Only less than 10 percent is winner in 40 years (e.g. 20 to 70) if he keep frequent trading. It is true in many countries, based on the above research...

Average # of trades per day

In US, of course, roughly 20% to 48% percent for the yearly profit. But above many traders has lot of commission. So I mean thinking about possible sucker who pay comm+tax more than his ProfitBeforeExpense. There is good research paper, regarding percentage of winners in the long run...

FederalFundRate from 1950 / How about before 1950?

Usually with low interest rate people like loan and makes bubble. Most depression or recession follow after the bubble. In 1929 before the Great depression, I heard 10% cash+ 90% loan possible to buy a stock. ********************************* Thanks for the link. I heard that average...

Average # of trades per day

Therefore, like IB charging $1 for each execution, there might be another new broker 1) charging no-limit Pizza style, e.g. 1% fixed comm of seed (no more than $100 with seed of 10K), everyday 2) charging first 100 trade for each $1, and thereafter $0.5. Depending on the comm structure for...

Average # of trades per day

In addition to # of trades, it is more important to think about daily expense and accumulated yearly expense and yearly tax. Suppose we have a seed of 10K or 100K, find out estimated yearly comm+tax for one year. Tell me simulated expense and ProfitBeforeExpense, with...

FederalFundRate from 1950 / How about before 1950?

I saw a movie something like "Sam Adams" for the story about 1770's. He went to Holland (probably strongest country at that time???) to loan money with interest of 6%. Of course, it is before he became president.

FederalFundRate from 1950 / How about before 1950?

The graph is quoted from Bob Schiller's lecture, around 3 min

FederalFundRate from 1950 / How about before 1950?

Below is the prime loan rate to the major banks, from the Federal Reserve, from 1950. I heard FRB can change the rate from 1913. Is there any source of rate before 1913? I guess 1930's has high interest rate during the depression.

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

Instead of the # of execution, I bet the years of PL data. Someone trade 100 times in ONE day. At least 5 years, and 10 years data is significant. And 45 years data is absolutely trustworthy, like Buffet's data, if his record is not lying. http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/2014ltr.pdf

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

    In case one keep annual compounded 10% over 10 years, his seed 100K should be grown to 1.1^11 = 2.593742 = 260K. With annual 20%, seed of 100K will be 1.2^10 = 6.191736 = 619K. Over 45 years like Buffet, 100K will be 1.2^45 = 3657.262 = 360000K. Probably the compounded 20% is best in the...

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

You do not have to answer. But traders should pay attention to the tax accumulated in lifetime. I bet TR of most traders show bigger than 50%, and of course someone bigger than even 100%. The more you pay expense, the better you are as a patriot. Furthermore, 2007 index 8 years ago and...

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

    I mean 1)If comm+tax is 9K over the 8 years, then TaxRate is 50%. 2)If it is 18K, then TR is 66%.
  14. J

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

Starting with 25K, you win 9K over the total 8 years. 1) Gross rate is 9/25=36% 2) Simple (Not compounded) annual rate is 36/8=4.5% 3) Compounded annual rate is 3.92% (Usually less than simple rate) Now how much was you expense over the 8 years, commission and tax separately? Just rough...

    Going pro vs staying non-pro

During the first 6 years, annual compounded PL is roughly -10% if you lost 80%. During the first 7 years, annual componded PL is roughly 0%. Suppose you win 20% at the 8 th year with original seed. Then during the 8 years, you total annually compounded PL is roughly 2.3% ( x=0.023 from...

    Interactive Brokers or TradeStation?

I spend only few weeks in IB TWS. It will take at least several months or yearsto know some of IB. There is no free lunch. If someone spend a weekend to help me, I should pay him at least as much as I save time. BUT no more than two weekend.

I have his book in my desk. How did you know that I had email communication with him many times? Solo means out of company or single?

    Interactive Brokers or TradeStation?

Of course, it can be easily changed to Excel format that IB require. As long as I do NOT spend time to type 1000 orders everyday, I am in progress to go forward.
