    Trading with automation (with IB)

7 months is too short to say anything. Prove at least 3 years or 10 years of record. If you make 20% annually (such as 1.2^10 = 6.191736 = 6.2 tiimes for 10 years), then you are sure to make 1.2^50 = 9100.438 = 9100 times. At age of 25, start 10K or 100K to make 91000K= 91M might be the best...

Anyone have experience in China retail account?

Dear- If I heard correctly, any US citizen (foreigner) can open brokerage account with valid ID in Japan and Taiwan but US citizen is NOT allowed to open account In China. Of course, with IB account we can trade stock of other country, but should pay double commission for the two brokers...

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

I am a beginner, but the following (simple data reception in R) was meaningful. install.packages("quantmod") library(quantmod) getSymbols("MSFT", from ="1990-01-01", to="2014-08-28") head(MSFT) tail(MSFT) Please never say "you don't contribute anything meaningful" since most never know...

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

Good to discuss automation with 15+ experienced trader. Also I paid some labour charge to my helper for scrapping with selenium and C# and for sending order matrix too IB server, like you did before. However the IB API helper asked too much amount, a lot higher than my helper. That is why I...

Don't be a stupid sucker like those who spend plenty of useless consumption at the crisis in 2008 and 1929. Probably you are very young who had no experience for crisis at all. Happy to hear there are plenty of suckers in stock market. If there is no sucker around me, then I am a sucker.

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

For the 150/M and $1800/Y data feed given above, it may NOT be fair 1) Trader with initial asset of $18K pay 10% for (short-term) data feed 2) Trader with $180K pay 1% for data feed. 3) Trader with $1.8M pay ONLY 0.1% for data feed.

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

I agree web-crawling for yahoo website is alternative way to get 15-min data. I mean R quantmod is another alternative way for 15-min data too, probably simplest among many methods with few(est) lines of commands. The two method were NOT possible even a few years ago. Most long-term investor...

Of course there is NO free lunch. Traders in some country seems to receive FREE feed, but most likely they pay for feeding, from hidden commission.

    Probably you are talking about R commands mentioned as above. install.packages("quantmod") library(quantmod) getSymbols("MSFT", from ="1990-01-01", to="2014-08-28") head(MSFT) tail(MSFT)

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

Good to hear to confirm NO FREE 5-min feed at all. Probably there is NO feed of 14-min or less. Each country has different charging policy for feed. I guess US has strict policy for charging, although some country provides free real-time data.

    Low commission for retail traders

For the above https://support.robinhood.com/hc/en-us/articles/202853769-How-Robinhood-Makes-Money , I can open account if and only if they make money from 1)margin interest 2)zero interest in cash balance. However if they take personal info from cell phone like above, then who will open the...

[Beginner] Is there free data feed?

Fortunately, my personal logic deals with roughly 300 equities and does NOT require 1-min feed (possibly 5-min or even 15-min might be OK.) Of course, logic selection is NOT by avoiding few dollars per month. Therefor the title in OP should be changed to "free 5-min or 15-min feed". So far...

Furthermore, if I heard correctly, there was a long-term inflation with annual 3% in average after 1913 FRB. So most trader should annual 3% winning to follow the inflation (practically even). But $1500 per year is different to each individual traders. I mean trader with initial seed of...

Of course, any trader can stop as soon as his balance or cash goes down. Most trader does NOT stop gambling until he ruins, like casino Baccharat. For example, if you can stop after winning 100K and expense like the above data feed, then you might be one of a few person to do that.

Is the stock market a zero-sum game?

Partly I agree yours. If index goes from 15000 to 18000, then every trader should make 20% in average. Likewise, if index drops 20% down, then every traders lose 20% in average. Therefore it is zero-sum with respect to index change, if there is NO commission and tax. For example, for 50...

If you are seriously saying "I need income from job, to pay for the $1500Y", then better to stop trading any more. Those who are worry about $200K for 50 years, can make (expect to make) the $200K at least at the (zero-sum) stock market.
