Then be aware that the statistics are against you. You can check out these threads for yourself. I'm usually not this nice in looking up my old threads for a post: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/trader-iq-test-pattern-recognition.212639/...

What to trade; individual stocks, forex, futures?

We are giving you an honest opinion based on our collective experiences. At the end of the day, it's up to you to do what you wish with it. You could learn in less then a month or it could take you years. There are outliers in the daytrader community but being one just from definition is very rare.

    Need Advice

    1. You can't really tell who has good info. And those that do, likely don't give out details. As a rule of thumb I follow the principle that those who are most active are often those who know the least. The wisest don't waste silly time on this forum. And even fools can have moment of...

Do Day Traders Rationally Learn About Their Ability?

IMO, 2014 is a relatively short time period to declare yourself successful.

Do Day Traders Rationally Learn About Their Ability?

I did a statistical analysis on roulette systems once. There is something that can be learned from roulette and I believe it applies well to daytrading.

Do Day Traders Rationally Learn About Their Ability?

Did they Define Day Traders? I read in a trading book once (long time ago and forgot what book but it was supposed classic) that psychologist makes the best traders. I would have prefer they did a statistical analysis on day trader's IQ and personality traits. The 95% of daytraders are loser is...

So, does the market predict economic downturns, or cause it?

That is actually still good. If you can't understand why that's on you:

How to use demo trades for better result?

My personal experience is that many traders are stressed/frustrated because they have some preconceived notion of market behavior that does not reflect real market fundamentals. This is the root reason for their frustration because they build market system based on bad ideas. A simple analogy...

Start of a bear market - DJIA January 2018

What opposing narrative? I have not yet made any claims that agree or disagree with his OP. Now you're just making $#!% up. Ignored. Again the format is: Forecast. Reason. Evidence. Anything less is BS.

Start of a bear market - DJIA January 2018

True. Forecasting is just a part of the overall formula. But for some reason it's the one that newbies fixates on as if it's the most important element.

Start of a bear market - DJIA January 2018

I forecast the 2008 (or 2009?) bottom BEFORE it happened. It's not hard to do but you have to understand market fundamentals. Sorry, it's still BS. If there is any critical thinking, the following elements are missing: -Give the Forecast -Give an Explanation of the Forecast -Give Data/Evidence...

Start of a bear market - DJIA January 2018

What exactly is the goal of your post? It sounds like another of millions of bs explanation you can find anywhere on the internet. If you are trying to forecast, you need a target price and time. I didn't see any hint of either. Just saying price will go up or down from here is not forecasting...

    The sell-off explained

Honestly man, the original thread post is pretty clear cut with explaining the reason behind the selloff.

    The sell-off explained

Lol. Predicting a selloff is easy. Shows who's the amateur when they are easily impress by these sort things.

    The sell-off explained

I am in agreement. The other side is a lot of daytraders seem to have a myopic view of market fundamentals and don't seem to have the ability to predict. Hence their dependence on patterns. Daytrading is good at training you to be good with accuracy and timing. You can make consistent profits...

    The sell-off explained

I wasn't trading during the crash, but it's very nice to know that my system would have had me being short and not trying to go long. 3 months of gains wiped out in just 1 hour. I wonder how many swing traders got wiped out during the crash? It seem a lot of them don't seem to understand that...
