    Capital Gains Rate to 28%?

I'd be more interested if it affects the low blended tax rate for Futures and Commodities. Hopefully, there will be no change in that. The 23% tax rate is very nice. Any one know if/when the 2003 Tax Act expires?

What a difference a week makes

I recommend that you stop trading immediately. From what you have posted, it doesn't look like you will survive normal drawdowns for long.

This is one of those days I hate...

On those days similar to what you mention, I find that my problem is primarily an inconsistency between my bias and the price action. ie. On one day, I was biased long therefore looking for long entries when the market was fading all day. On another day, I was looking for a trend long or...

Fed trading. How did you do?

Fed trading is notoriously difficult, but people just want a piece of the action. I only traded after the announcement. And got whippedsawed initially. 1st trade loss. 2nd trade turned day net profitable. 3rd trade more profitable. All were short futures. How did you do?

Are you going to trade the Fed announcement?

Are you going to trade the Fed announcement?

If some of you guys are going long/short into the decision, what is your edge?

Are you going to trade the Fed announcement?

Are you going to go long/short for the Fed announcement? I'm not talking about positions that you have put on regardless of the Fed move, but instead are you specifically putting on new positions before the Fed decision?

crazy 'surprise' rate cut talk...hello...FED mtg almost here

According to history, the Fed did a surprise rate cut of 50 bps on Jan 3, 2001 then another 50 bps rate cut at the Jan 31, 2001 meeting. If rate cuts take 6+ months to take effect, why not have waited for Jan 31 to cut a full 100 bps? Or cut 100 bps entirely on Jan 3? It is their decision...

    Real estate horror stories

It's more akin to if you already own a home now, then it's like selling one stock to buy another. There are transaction costs, etc, but overall if you do that the market direction doesn't seem to be as important as someone buying their first condo was my point.

    Real estate horror stories

You sound like you have been successful with over $100M in profits for a fund from your previous thread. I'm wondering why it is as important in your situation. Are you renting now and/or looking to buy a multi-million dollar estate or something? ie. Even Barry Ritholtz of the Big Picture...

Are Options on Futures considered 1256 contracts for tax purposes? Are they taxed similar to stock options or do they get the blended tax rate of 1256 contracts?

    Good website for Managed Futures?

That is a useful site, thank you for the link. However, it is fairly limited in terms of what you can access prior to paying for a full report. Are there any other sites that let you sort via draw down, sharpe ratio, and ytd gain/loss? I don't mind paying but I want to at least filter what...
