AUD.NZD is a relative value play & less of a directional trade. Both are strong markets. But, doesn't mean that a short AUD.NZD trade won't work. Aussie is down hard today, but more importantly NZD is down less or stronger. The same can be said about the ES & NQ contracts. Both are rippin'...

although anything is possible, I don't see it. A few guys are on the web calling for the same. The long term chart time frames are saying down & it looks to be reclaiming the IR announcement price spike. I guess see what happens.

Anyone trading Aussie Kiwi? Watching it now roughly 1030P EST. 2/9. Seems to be hugging the 1.2900 level on weakness. The price action suggests that someone is defending this level maybe for an option expiration. Wondering if the pair will hold this value level post RBA announcement leaving...

long ITM call vs OTM call spread

Was looking at AAPL long term chart. Stock has had a 115 pt. run. Probably going to $500. But, there should be some sideways movement at some point if not a dip.

long ITM call vs OTM call spread

Thanks. Was trying to swing trade over a few days & wanted to do something ITM with high delta & low theta. Figured AAPL or even CAT will consolidate or dip & would be an opp to get in. Also, was trying to get a handle on how much I would be paying up for them cause of high IV or whatever.

long ITM call vs OTM call spread

Any value doing a long call spread in AAPL where ur Long the Mar 470 call @17.05 vs short the 500 strike for 5.15? APPL @ 475.80 this writing. My first hunch was to trade the ITM call on a pullback. this morning might have been nice. But, was thinking maybe these calls were possibly too rich...

Fuel Hedging using CL Call Options

Sincerely, now that you are long calls.... You have something to hedge. That being your call position & its theta risk. Like a bird it nibbles daily. Additionally, you are long volatility, do you have a vol forecast? Just things to think about.

    Estimating Vol....

Working toward bringing my option working knowledge up to snuff. Took two semesters of commodity options classes a couple years back. It gave me basis to build on with greeks & alike. But, just didn't really walk away with a strong sense of how to forecast IV for trading purposes. In...

When shorting options til expiration, does IV really matter?

If ur long gamma, then you're short theta If us short gamma, then you're long theta So... If your're long options, then ur long gamma/short theta. If you're short options, then ur short gamma/long theta. Always inverse. Unless, there is some crazy new fangled, multi legged trade that...

Who's trading spreads in GLOBEX eurodollar complex?

Hey ghoul. Happy New Year. I hear/see this past spring there were some nice moves in the some of the calendars on the short side. Do you trade the reds, greens or blues? How do you typically structure your positions? 3 months, 6 months, 1 year+ between legs ? I'm beginning to see that a lot...

US Cash index Question - Multiple contract listing per strike

Thanks guys. What still escapes me is that they both have about the same time to expiration. Yet, the premiums are not equal. Even just going by BSM rule of thumb, all things being equal plus 2weeks, they should be priced about the same. Additional 2 weeks I don't think would make a big...

US Cash index Question - Multiple contract listing per strike

Guys, A question was put to me by a fellow trader about SPX cash indices option listings. Why when you look at the SPX you see two puts contracts listed for a single strike. Different expirations with quarterly listings, premiums (huge discrepencies)for them as well. 1,225.00...

Option Market Makers vs Stock Market Makers

Yes, the smartest guys in the room & that was evident on most futures exchange floors. Look in the futures pit & traders/brokers Span anywhere from HS to college graduate, a lil brutish, push & shoving. But, just a few short steps away in the futures options pit you'll find some of the same...

'Let Gamma run' or Delta hedging

When I used work on the exchange floor I used to watch the then timber hill floor trader Delta hedge his position in the futures. I knew that he & most of the option MM trading this way were consistently profitable. That was back in 97'. Also, knew of a fellow that traded this way in spot fx...
