Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

Those things are great. Work off of cartesian coordinates. I met someone the other night whom built one from scratch. He told me it was a retooling of his skill set as the industry he was in (color picture developing) is now history b/c of digital. I hope that industry takes off.

Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

I play for that team too. But, not at the expense of those around me. Charity begins at home.

Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

Morgan parasite = china The other poster. On one hand you're right we don't need more politicians telling big business what to do. If they own it they need to protect & defend it. But, that should be a national imperative and corporate America needsto get it in gear to protect themselves...

Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

Frame it as you want. It is economic parasitism. Parasites in nature seldom kill off their host as it would mean death to the parasite. Any different from the old ghetto commerce model? Like lay away or store credit? They have also changed the dynamic of trade agreement from mutually...

Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

Our sluggish economy of late is due to more than just the after effects of 2008. Granted they're other forces like corporate america waiting out the election. But there is a more insidious force at play & I'm finding a lil disturbing that there isn a larger dialogue & we haven't dragged it out...

Billion Dollar Trading Losses: Is Biology to Blame?

This is pretty straight forward & it's the stuff booms & busts are made of. Whether you're talking about a firm or an entire market place & all it's participants. Don't over think it too much. Biology/psychology is to blame in that were all wired the same way. It's a progressive cycle & making...

CMG - potential short - anyone watching

I like & agree with this guy's thesis. I'm sure there will be a rally here & there. Great to use to one's advantage, but the broader economy is pointed in the face or against their business model. Once again the higher prob bet is down, not up for this stock.

whats up (actually down) with CMG?

Another comparison for this market would be FOSL. it had the exact same price action from that NASDAQ Sh*t show :) They "broke" it in one session like 55 pts. It then traded down another 10 pts in the weeks there after. Also, a retailer, a high flying story stock. I don't think anyone would...

CMG - potential short - anyone watching

You know what? On first glance, PNRA looks weak & should probably be shorted on rallies. But, I can't say. I'm not throughly schooled in the stock's fundamentals. The premise on a short side trade on CMG was that it was a $400 glorified "taco stand". My gut told me that The price seem so...

whats up (actually down) with CMG?

Debit spreads are tempting but hard with stocks like this. The same was the case with FOSL. Just long a strike is the trade with these. but never does one ever expect a risk/reward payoff like this in one session. Who expects something to trade down 80 points plus in a session. Sometimes you...

CMG - potential short - anyone watching

Down $86 points in a session. Business model once again was a taco stand. But, all of one quarter later. CMG Hit the skids. What I will give you is that it would have been a hard natural short to sit with unless you sold into strength & positioned correctly. Also, in the options, theta would...

What happened with CL ? Big move down

Just an FYI. That sharp downside move in crude is not a one off phenomena. Go back & check your front month charts for May 1st of 2011 & you'll discover that the same move happened last year within 5 calendar days of this year's market rip. Both times for whatever reasons crude ran up from the...

Wouldnt be suprised if they call Facebook, "Wastebook" after this IPO

Give it some time, a few days or weeks. LNKD has earnings and once the street has 1) Confirmation that their model lacks revenue & earnings. 2) A 2nd market vehicle to trade ie the common shares. They will line up to short this issue. I could be wrong. But, I think the probabilities...

    Ari Kiev

Hello guys, I frequent ET regularly, but rarely have I this forum. I have been really reading, & re-reading Kiev's The Psychology of Risk: Mastering market uncertainty text. As you all may know Kiev passed away in 2009. For whatever reason his work speaks to me. I found him creditable as...

    Reforming the US tax code

The 60 minutes piece on taxing the rich, the stat that one has to stop & take note of is the following, "In 1985, the top wealthiest 5% of the US population collectively held $8 trillion. Today, that same demographic holds $40 trillion." Granted some of that increase has to be adjusted for...

    ATM dynamic

If you pull up an option chain for both the April & May CMG series. 420 is the ATM strike. If you compare calls to puts settlements from this past friday's session, CMG sold off 11 pts. The calls got hammered to the tune of 10 handles plus & their premiums 1/3 if not halved. Yet, The entire put...
