    Seeking specifics on SVXY construction

I am trying to understand how SVXY price is impacted thru the VIX Futures change-over each month. This should be in the Prospectus, but my eyes glaze over before I find the "beef". I have a rough understanding of the changing ratio of short Front month /VX to short next month /VX, but there...

    Thinkorswim risk profile question

Short answer: Can't get there from here! A hint (with TOS Analyze) is the selection of a symbol in the upper left box. You have SPX, which is NOT identical to /ES. (seems you desired to observe Both /ES, and your SPX option) Also note that the TOS Analyze function does NOT permit comingling...

Any way to anticipate implied volatility moving in opposite directions for near term / far term?

IMO: Backwardation of equities and their indexes is short-lived, so if in backwardation, it "normally" will tend back to contango. -- The converse is a crap shoot, unless you are aware of some event.

Data on long-term returns from buying way OTM puts on the S&P500

Re-check your cost numbers! Their (CBOE LiveVol) data (SPX option quotes) goes back to 2004. Their 1-min data cost less than $1K -- less frequent intervals is cheaper.

SPY weekly options - how long does it take to exercice ?

Can you provide example? I don't recall observing this with SPY options (Exercising an option being more profitable than closing the position (negative extrinsic value?))!

SPY weekly options - how long does it take to exercice ?

While not answering your question, am curious why you would consider exercising, when you will profit more by purchasing SPY and selling your CALLs (Assuming you do not have insane commissions). Receive any extrinsic value from the options, take ownership of the underlying at your timing and...

ThinkScriptors -- since TOS terminated afterhours lounge support

Can you recommend which forum would be most appropriate? Note: My experience has been most people here that respond, do so without comprehending the questions, so I'd like to improve the quality of responses by being more specialized in which forum, if possible. Questions related to...

ThinkScriptors -- since TOS terminated afterhours lounge support

Recently TOS terminated their ThinkScript lounge after hours. No posts permitted. Does anyone know if a substitute forum popped up anywhere for ThinkScript interaction to fill this void? I used it primarily after hours, since am typically busy with the market during trading hours. I do not...

Symbol names for the two nearest Futures(VXX)

It is unclear what you are trying to do. Contango is not influenced by # days remaining in the Futures contract. (The formula for Contango is merely (BM-FM)/BM) To obtain another reference point, look at VixCentral, and observe their % Contango value for the front two months! ->...

Symbol names for the two nearest Futures(VXX)

Understood: One reason for using this script (as a reference for you coding), will be the GUI interface for ThinkScript is very good. -- You can visually verify (debug) what is being done. -- for example, to insure the roll timing is "exact", merely chart "/VX", which will show the vertical...

Symbol names for the two nearest Futures(VXX)

Pic below of study -- Lower study is the result of the Contango script, displaying % Contango for BM - FM /VX Futures. If you want, I can give you the code. -- Note: The Vertical labels include the nomenclature for the respective Futures. To pick the correct Futures, you need to be aware of...

Symbol names for the two nearest Futures(VXX)

Do you have access to TOS? If so, I can provide a thinkscript study, that derives them.

    Options Trade Alert Service

I do not understand your issue with this service. The trade performance is documented and published. If you expect performance other that what is documented (occurred), then you should not trade it. However, if this stated performance is within your acceptable criteria, it may warrant...

Selling Credit Call Spread - I'm Obviously Missing Something

Look at the position using the "Analyze" tab under the "Risk Profile" to gain a better understanding of the PnL expectations with changes in underlying price. Note that $2000 - $780 == $1220 (your credit); or more intuitive: 2000-1220=780.

    Finding Free Option historical data

The historical data VIA TOS Thinkscript (for greater than 6 months) is EOD. Accessing it via ThinkScript is difficult, and IMHO, not worth the effort (there are more productive endeavors to consume your time). An alternate approach is to use OnDemand in TOS. This does not have the EOD...

    Pick up free data

By VIX, are you referencing the values computed by CBOE and reported as VIX? Or are you intending to reference the VX futures? -- For the former, you can compute them from the SPX option data (with some coding effort).
