Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

Yes, I use OPM and wouldn't have it any other way... WOW, CRAZY!!! I assume he has a hell of an account size - wow... This is one of the reasons i like stocks for averaging down versus indices - at least i can diversify across non correlated stocks ... (though of course as ADK says I am sure...

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

If you do it right, it will be rare that your losing day loss will exceed your average daily win. At worst, I lose 2x my avg winning days, and these happen very rarely. As others have mentioned: - it helps to have an edge eg. the typical patterns, trend, etc.. - screetime as Anek would...

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

Myself, I use support/resistance as points of either exiting, getting smaller or reversing. As well, if the indexes go strongly against my position. Il2t

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

I agree that the patterns he discusses in AHG will work but these augment AHG and are not core to it. Triangles, double bottoms, etc.. AHG is about going in on trend pullbacks and (advanced) avging up but this does not happen often with stocks. This is much easier done with very high volume...

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

I understand where he gets that opinion, I've seen it many times myself - people avg down past support or other areas where you are confirmed to be wrong. What Avgdownking advises is different !. You need to have a plan that works - his does and so does mine. I can name (though i wont for...

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

Losers are jerks who dont want to hear other people's opionions... I understand if you disagree, the more the better but name calling is juvenile. I thought i saw some smart constructive postings from you before, why dont you go back to doing that

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

I'm a day trader so i wouldn't have held overnight but congrats to you! Other than that i totally agree with your strategy, I use fibs as well.. You can get killed averaging down as much as any other strategy ( even averaging up!) if you dont have a plan and discipline.

Averaging Down the real Holy Grail

I agree, the secret is to to avg down with and not against the prevailing trend... i do this in stocks and it's a powerful technique. I do it up to the support and either get out, get smaller or reverse depending on the market at that time and the significance of the support - not all supports...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Being only a contrarian used to bring in the gold, it's a little more complicated now, have to be a contrarian to the smaller trend yet be on the side of the larger 2-5 day trend. I also pair trade, and use some price action patterns that become obvious with screen time. But ya, the entry...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

I plan on rereading the journal - followed it religiously until you took some time off - already gleaned a lot of gems. I've been calling the Nasdaq moves pretty accurately for the past couple of weeks based on HH LL, s/r, etc... helped the daytrading already. Will be paper trading ur...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

lol, u dont want my posts!! what i know about is totally opposite in method to what u preach :) My one and only (useful) advice to your novice students would be to work on your discipline - toooo many traders have gone belly up due to lack of discipline. Never, ever trade bigger unless...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

lol, i totally understand about how u feel on avging down, but it's a mighty strong technique if done judiciously and with discipline ESPECIALLY if you get the side benefits of ecn credits. Believe it or not, i am profitable every month for the last 5 years other than an early blowout month...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

I guess you didnt see the question in that post :) - my bad. If you dont mind giving me your insights I was wondering (if this is not off topic): Specifically for daytrading... 1) what did / would you look for in a stock to trade it with AHG? high volume? multiday trend? high volume...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

I am doing well with my methodology however it's not a very comfortable one for me risk wise as I try to scale up my trading. As is probably obvious from using an avging down strategy I do sustain occasionally decent sized losses up to 2x my average positive days. I'd prefer to move in a...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Hi Anek, I'm a daytrader at a Prop firm. My startegy is mostly to look for reversal or momentum patterns with avging down until a break of support or resistance but after reading your journal i am thinking i would very much want to improve my risk/reward profile by avging up instead! I...

AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

First post. Had to after those unnecessary attacks by ST. I don't blame you. Stealth Trader was being one hell of a jerk. ( he had been a incredible contributer until couple of days ago, dont know what happened to him...). I was expecting one of the moderators would step in and get him to...
