    Don't waste your money

Sites such as Collective2 or this AutoFX firm are inherently flawed and should be avoided. I thought this was obvious but to the most gullibe people. There is a hughe conflict of interest, since these firms live of kickbacks based on their clients trading volume, and as such have a big interest...

How liquid is the Euro FX on the CME?

Huh? There wont be hundreds let alone thousands of contracts on the inside in EuroFX. Live book can be viewed here: http://datasuite.cmegroup.com/EFXweb/index.html

Forex, worst trading market? Retail vs. Institutional

Just FYI, if you are looking for fx blotters search this forum for user 'cabletrader' - he frequently posted his own in here (oanda blotters none the less). On the other hand, cabletrader appears to to be MIA, so who knows what he (or his account) is up to now. :) Also, i somehow doubt the...

Tradestation (Gain Capital) not an ECN but still charges a commission?

They operate a ecn style platform too now: http://gaingtx.com/index.shtml

    Oanda's API

I'm using the net version. There have been problems in the past, but the last few versions are remarkably painless. They also have a FIX server now, which is relativly new, can't comment on its reliablity tho.

Calculate system stats from excel file

Tradelink: can your app calculate correct PnL for a strategy that uses multiple instruments that are denominated in different currencies? Or calculate correct PnL for instruments that don't have a fixed point-value (for example fx) ?

    Futures/Forex brokers offering FIX.

Both Integral and ChoiceFX are software solutions only. You can either use your existing lines with supported destinations OR use your (prime) broker's lines to trade. They only provide the frontend, backend and connectivity.

    Futures/Forex brokers offering FIX.

Advantage Futures for example. They have rather high margins for FX tho (through ebs and Hotspot).

JDL FX Trading Journal - 5- 20% per week

-30%, -10% in a singular trade, thats rather volantile, dont you think?

How to go about getting a job as a trader

In this environment it will be hard unless you really stand above the crowd, in one way or antoher. A friend of mine (physics PhD with zero finance background) got hired by UBS in 2006, at that time there were plenty others like him, apparently today its different. Also math/physics...

OANDA = OFF-exchange broker (MM) Their risk disclosure says it all: look!

I could copy&paste equally nasty fineprint from ecns (hotspot or IB). Noone is liable for anything, and - of course - if the firm servers or 'the internet' has a hickup, its the traders problem. I doubt anyone can come up with fineprint that sounds appealing, i have read quite a few and they...

What will you do when the 10:1 leverage passes?

That would be all futures traders then, i suppose.

    Best fx charting software?

Personally i use Neoticker. If you dont specify why you dislike these other platforms it will be hard to make any recommendations.

Will The 10:1 Leverage Proposal Pass?

What a terribly misinformed douche. "on a position held open the spread is charged again and again as a rollover fee" " If you short the Euro/USD cross, for example, and expect a 100 pip (one cent) move on your trade, you might pay three pips of spread to enter and another three to exit...

10:1 could be the new leverage rule

I just skimmed through the full text of the proposal. Alot of it makes actually sense to me (apart from the 10:1 limitation). As for the leveragle limitation, they have 2 arguments. The first one is essentially consumer protection, to limit the customers risk they can expose themselfs, limit...

Right, confused that with OEC, which shills for Gain (iirc).

    Mirus futures/forex questions:

You are doing this wrong. You need to compare commission of 125K eur/usd trade to the future, not 200K. That would be 2.95 * 1,25 * 1,4300(or whatever eur/usd quote is at the moment). That works out to $5,27 - but yes, its more expensive than what most firms charge for futures. Mirus is an IB...

Ninja + Zenfire vs Ninja + TT feed

Last october they effectively doubled the trade-ticks they transmit. They unbundled ticks that were previously aggregated into single transactions. See: http://www.cmegroup.com/globex/files/EquityFuturesEnhancements.pdf CME speaks about 20% increase in bandwith utilization, but it was more...
