    Deutsche Bank and FXCM Connection

Is it that unbelievable that DB streams their own quotes? Personally i dont know (or care), but it would appear DB wouldn't really need assistance from someone like fxcm to make a market in ccys. RBS or UBS don't use Oanda quotes on their oanda-based retail software either.

Reuters: Germany to ban shortselling, tonight

Doesn't make my statement untrue. Go get your Hull edition from the shelf. Surely swaps got nada to with it? Explain the qualitative difference of economic danger in hedging rate risk with i.e. bunds versus a similar swap. I'm very sorry that you are pissed off, but there is still no point...

Reuters: Germany to ban shortselling, tonight

If you don't understand the risks involved you can piss away a lot of money with just about any instrument, including futures and forwards (by the way just FYI - a future IS a forward). A rate swap is a fairly primitive instrument, i don't see how they should be any more dangerous than the...

    Possible?!

You can exchange currency on IB or Oanda and wire it out. For example, trade your EURs for USDs and wire them out to close a debit balance on your USD bank account. Real enough?

    Possible?!

Its not so uncommon in the pro segment, google for "give-up agreement". Unsure why this should be necessary in retail space.

Looks like the FX forum on Elitetrader is not very active, ...

Yes, it would appear even the shills gave up on this forum-section. There are a few other sites (i.e. forexfactory), but they are all really terrible.

Looking for an alternative to NinjaTrader

FYI, there is a Tick-Filter functionality built into Neo - so depending on how you want to preprocess incoming ticks this may be possible without re-writing the IQfeed data interface.

let's assume Germans won't bail out

That doesn't sound too confidence-inspiring. Beeing vaguely familiar with italian culture, i'm figuring, if Greece hid X in off-balance sheet transactions, Italy hides probably X^X.

let's assume Germans won't bail out

As a european citizen (from one of the paying countries) i'm currently thinking about how to hedge against this clusterfk too. Obviously long the more stable ccys, but how/where? We won't be able to pay the italian and spanish bills too on top of Greece, so when the big european domino-day...

My currency trading goals: Will FXCM do?

I'd use Oanda for that. They have sub-accounts in various ccys (including cad and usd). You can also convert and wire out in either ccy using their physical delivery service (so much for virtual reality). Alternatively, Interactive Brokers, which can do the same thing.

what just happened on CL @10:32AM EST?

There have been fat-fingers in deeper markets than CL (i.e. Bund). But this was GR downgrade obviously.

    Spread/Pairs charting package

You can have a look at Neoticker. It can draw all the charts you want and can also use bid or ask prices to construct charts. For spreads its not point&click though, you have to tell it exactly what to do using its formula language and it sucks for order-entry. But for charting, its really a...

20-50mm size in FX with IB

Should be possible, in the drop-down menu where it says "Standard" by default. At least it worked for me. I'm probably going to sign up with them in the near future.

    all different data

In a 24 hour market you need to define your own "EOD" since there is no official session close. Most firms use 17:00 EST to break the daily bars, but there are many that use another time. There are bound to be timezone related differences.
